The young southpaw did manage to rack up six strikeouts on the night while walking three. The Cubs pushed a pair of runs across against him in the third inning, then chased him by adding two more in the sixth. Even with the rough outing, he sports a solid 3.36 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and 82/23 K/BB ratio through 85 2/3 innings on the season.

Reds recalled INF/OF Donald Lutz from Triple-A Louisville.

Lutz will function in a utility role for the Reds while Skip Schumaker is sidelined with a concussion. The 25-year-old has appeared in seven games with the Reds already this season, going 1-for-13 with a pair of walks and a run scored. He can safely be avoided in all fantasy formats.

Reds placed INF/OF Skip Schumaker on the 7-day concussion disabled list.

Schumaker sustained the injury during Thursday's game. He had been seeing the bulk of the playing time at second base in Brandon Phillips' absence, but will now have to wait until after the All-Star break to get back on the field.

George Springer was scratched from the Astros starting lineup on Friday.

No word given yet as to the reason for the late scratch. Robbie Grossman will start in his place in center field and hit sixth for the Astros.

Diamondbacks optioned OF Roger Kieschnick to Triple-A Reno.

Kieschnick was the odd man out with Mark Trumbo returning from the disabled list. He'll continue to function as organizational depth in the minor leagues.
Jul 11 - 6:20 PM

Diamoncbacks activated OF Mark Trumbo from the 15-day disabled list.

Trumbo blasted five long balls in his seven rehab games, forcing the Diamondbacks to activate him a few days earlier than originally planned. He is in the lineup and will bat fifth against Tim Lincecum in his return.
Jul 11 - 6:19 PM

Buster Posey is not in the Giants starting lineup for Friday's contest against the Diamondbacks.

It's nothing more than a day of rest for the hard-hitting backstop. Hector Sanchez will get the start behind the plate and hit fifth for the Giants against Mike Bolsinger.
Jul 11 - 6:04 PM

Ryan Hanigan was scratched from Friday's lineup with soreness in his left side.

Hanigan hasn't played since Tuesday, so it's possible he's been nursing the ailment for a few days. Jose Molina will catch Chris Archer instead.
