Yankees optioned LHP Chasen Shreve to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

Shreve surrendered three runs on two homers and a single Wednesday in the Yankees' loss to the Blue Jays, watching his season ERA rise from 4.00 to 5.21. Richard Bleier is taking over the vacant bullpen spot.

Yankees optioned INF/OF Rob Refsnyder to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

Refsnyder had a two-run double in three at-bats during his short stay at the major league level. The 25-year-old could take on some fantasy value later this summer if injuries open a regular job for him, but he's not worth stashing in standard leagues.
May 26 - 1:29 PM

Yankees activated DH Alex Rodriguez from the 15-day disabled list.

A-Rod is at DH and batting fifth Thursday against the Blue Jays after missing the last three weeks with a strained hamstring. He went 3-for-6 with a home run and three RBI on his two-game rehab assignment with Double-A Trenton, but the 40-year-old returns Thursday to a rough .194/.275/.444 batting line. He offers a bit of power but not much more in what is technically his age-41 season.
May 26 - 1:26 PM

Yankees purchased the contract of LHP Richard Bleier from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

Bleier had registered a 2.57 ERA, 1.17 WHIP, and 15/6 K/BB ratio through 35 innings (five starts, one relief appearance) this season at the Triple-A level. He will presumably work as a long reliever in New York. The 29-year-old left-hander has never appeared in a major league game.

Cardinals recalled INF Greg Garcia from Triple-A Memphis.

Garcia will give the Cardinals infield depth while Matt Carpenter spends the weekend away on paternity leave. Garcia has a cool .811 career OPS in the major leagues and he's 6-for-10 with St. Louis in 2016, but the 26-year-old isn't going to play enough to carry fantasy relevance.
May 26 - 12:24 PM

Cardinals placed 3B Matt Carpenter on the paternity leave list.

Carpenter's wife went into labor with the couple's first child ahead of Wednesday afternoon's series finale against the Cubs. He could miss the Cardinals' entire four-game series in Washington, D.C. Greg Garcia was called up Thursday in a corresponding roster move to provide infield depth.

Logan Forsythe (shoulder) took grounders Wednesday.

It's a nice first step for the rehabbing second baseman, who's been on the disabled list since May 14 with a fracture in his left shoulder blade. Forsythe told Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times that he's aiming to return during the Rays' next homestand (June 10-19). He was mashing at a .308/.398/.523 clip with four home runs and 12 RBI in 29 games before the injury.

Diamondbacks manager Chip Hale said Shelby Miller is dealing with discomfort in a finger on his right hand.

Miller jammed the finger against the pitching mound in San Diego during a start at Petco Park back in April. He's still scheduled to take his next turn Sunday at home against the Padres, but a disabled list stint may be coming (whether he actually needs it or not) if things go poorly in that outing. Miller has a hideous 7.09 ERA, 1.86 WHIP, and 30/29 K/BB ratio through his first 45 2/3 innings with Arizona.
