Jeff Francoeur went 2-for-5 with a two-run double and a solo home run as the Phillies beat the Dodgers on Tuesday.

Francoeur added insurance as his two-run double made it 3-0 in the third inning, and he'd later come around to score. He homered off of Juan Nicasio in the seventh to make it a 7-2 game. The veteran has lived up to expectations, providing some power every now and then but not much else. Francoeur owns a .259/.292/.431 triple-slash line with six home runs and 26 RBI.

Addison Russell had an RBI single and a run scored in Game 2 of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Cardinals.

After sitting in the first game of the day, Russell found a way to contribute in the nightcap. His RBI single in the seventh inning tied the game, and he scored later in the inning. Despite the highlights, he finished 1-for-3 and has just three hits in his last 37 at-bats. The Cubs surely won't give up on their 21-year-old second baseman, but his .227/.291/.356 line is hard to stomach for the time being.
Jul 8 - 12:53 AM

Tim Cooney started the second game of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Cubs, allowing one run on three hits over 5 1/3 innings in a no-decision.

Aside from a Taylor Teagarden RBI single in the fifth inning, Cooney was largely spotless against the division rival. The southpaw walked one while striking out three. He left in line for his first big league victory, but the bullpen failed to hold the lead. With Jaime Garcia still sidelined, Cooney will get one more start before the All-Star break. He'll take a 3.95 ERA and 1.32 WHIP into Sunday's start against the Pirates.

Dallas Beeler allowed two runs over five innings in a spot start no-decision against the Cardinals on Tuesday.

Beeler gave up four hits and walked two in the start, his first this season. The right-hander also surprised with six strikeouts. Beeler will return to the minors after being recalled for the nightcap of Tuesday's doubleheader.
Jul 8 - 12:47 AM

Mike Trout hit one of the Angels' four home runs Tuesday, finishing 2-for-4 with three RBI and two runs scored in a 10-2 victory.

Trout was hit by a pitch and scored in the first inning before blasting a three-run homer in the second. The home run was his 22nd home run of the season. The all-everything outfielder is once again among the American League leaders in most every category and will make his third straight All-Star Game start next week. Trout is hitting .302/.396/.584 with 48 RBI, 62 runs scored and nine steals on the year.
Jul 8 - 12:45 AM

Kole Calhoun turned in his fourth straight two-hit game Tuesday, finishing 2-for-5 with a double and two runs scored in a win over the Rockies.

The outfielder has been on a tear in recent days, going 8-for-19 with three doubles, two homers, 10 RBI and seven runs scored over his past four games. The good stretch has helped raise his line just in time for the All-Star break, as he's now hitting .268/.322/.406 with nine homers, 46 RBI and 35 runs scored. He's still got a few more days to improve on those numbers before the break.
Jul 8 - 12:38 AM

Albert Pujols hit his American League-leading 26th home run against the Rockies on Tuesday.

Pujols and company took advantage of Rockies starter Chad Bettis for four home runs on the evening, with Pujols' first inning blast getting the show started. The homer was a three-run shot, and he finished 1-for-5 with three RBI in the contest. As the first half draws to a close, the 35-year-old is now hitting .264/.335/.561 with his 26 homers, 56 RBI and 51 runs scored.
Jul 8 - 12:32 AM

Chris Iannetta went 1-for-3 with a home run, two RBI and two runs scored in Tuesday's win over the Rockies.

Iannetta walked and scored in the second inning before hitting a two-run dinger in the third. The homer was his first since May 28 and his fourth overall. He's hitting just .193/.313/.292 on the year.
