Joe Kelly took a no-decision, allowing five runs (four earned) in 3 1/3 innings as the Red Sox fell to the White Sox on Monday.

The White Sox jumped on Kelly immediately for four runs in the first inning and tacked on another in the third. The right-hander allowed seven hits and hit a batter while walking none and striking out two. 2015 just hasn't been his year, as he stands with a 5.94 ERA, a 1.51 WHIP, and a 68/32 K/BB ratio over 83 1/3 innings. Kelly will look for something positive to come out of this weekend's home start versus the Rays.

John Danks was lucky to get a no-decision after allowing seven runs (six earned) in 4 1/3 innings as the White Sox won a slugfest against the Red Sox on Monday.

Danks was in line for the loss when he exited with one out in the fifth. He gave up nine hits -- including a two-run home run to David Ortiz -- while walking one and striking out two. The lefty had held the opposition scoreless in three of his last four starts, but still owns a poor 4.97 ERA on the year with a 1.45 WHIP and a 75/30 K/BB ratio over 108 2/3 innings. Danks will look for better results over the weekend in a home start against the Yankees.

CBS Sports' Jon Heyman reports that Craig Kimbrel's name "has at least surfaced" in the Padres' trade talks with the Yankees.

As Heyman notes, it's hard to see a fit given that the Yankees already have a dynamic 1-2 punch with Dellin Betances and Andrew Miller at the back-end of their bullpen. They would seem likelier to add one of the starters the Padres are shopping, with Heyman saying the Bombers "are investigating most starters and relievers on the market."

David Ortiz hit a two-run home run, his only hit in five at-bats, but the Red Sox came out on the losing end of Monday's slugfest with the White Sox.

Ortiz halved the deficit created by Joe Kelly in the first inning with his two-run home run off of John Danks, making it a 4-2 game. It's his seventh home run in the month of July and his 20th on the year along with 56 RBI and a .243/.330/.473 triple-slash line. It didn't seem possible a month ago, but Ortiz has a chance to register the ninth 30-homer season of his 20-year career.

Adam Eaton went 3-for-6 with a double, a triple, and two RBI as the White Sox won a slugfest against the Red Sox on Monday.

Eaton led off the game with a triple, then scored the first run in a four-run opening frame. He hit an RBI double in the sixth, and added an RBI single in the seventh, finishing a home run shy of the cycle. The outfielder has a .255/.329/.407 batting line on the year with eight home runs, 23 RBI, and 55 runs scored.

Yadier Molina passed concussion tests after leaving Monday's game.

Molina looked a little dazed after taking a foul tip and was eventually removed because he was "not feeling well," according to the Cardinals. However, manager Mike Matheny said the catcher was dealing with dehydration more than anything else. Molina should be back in there on Tuesday.
Jul 27 - 11:12 PM

Trevor Rosenthal set the Reds down in order in the ninth inning for his 31st save as the Cardinals won 4-1 on Monday.

Rosenthal struck out Eugenio Suarez, got Skip Schumaker to pop out, and Billy Hamilton to ground out to end the game. The right-hander has been battling some elbow troubles, responsible in some part for his allowing at least a run in five of 12 appearances this month. Rosenthal, this season, is 31-for-33 in save chances with a 1.71 ERA and a 52/16 K/BB ratio in 47 1/3 innings.
Jul 27 - 11:09 PM

Lance Lynn fired seven innings of one-run ball to earn the win on Monday against the Reds.

The Reds took a temporary 1-0 lead in the third inning on Jay Bruce's sacrifice fly, but were otherwise not able to muster an offensive against Lynn. The right-hander gave up five hits and three walks while striking out five in the effort. Lynn now boasts a terrific 2.71 ERA, a 1.22 WHIP, and a 124/37 K/BB ratio over 116 1/3 innings. He'll host the Rockies this weekend.
