Bruce Chen notched his first win of the year despite allowing four runs over five innings Saturday against the Twins.

It's strange to write it, but as well as the Twins have been swinging the bats, allowing four runs in five innings isn't bad. Chen missed his previous turn with a tight left glute muscle, so he was making his third start of the year today. He'll pitch in Cleveland next time out.

Braves manager Fredi Gonzalez said Gavin Floyd (elbow) will make at least two more rehab starts.

Floyd has allowed 10 runs -- eight earned -- in 13 2/3 rehab innings so far, and the Braves want him to continue to work out the kinks against a lower level of competition. He is on his way back from Tommy John surgery.
Apr 19 - 6:00 PM

Kevin Correia gave up five runs -- four earned -- in six innings Saturday in a loss to the Royals.

Correia and Mike Pelfrey are fighting it out for the honor of being first bumped from the Minnesota rotation. It'd be nice to see the Twins go to someone with a little more upside, whether it's Samuel Deduno or Triple-A Rochester's Kris Johnson. Prospect Alex Meyer could be a factor, too, though probably not for another six weeks or so. Correia is currently 0-2 with a 5.47 ERA.
Apr 19 - 5:58 PM

Salvador Perez went 0-for-4 on Saturday and is 1-for-12 in three games since moving into the cleanup spot for the Royals.

Perez got off to a scorching start, hitting .458 with a 3/8 K/BB ratio in his first eight games. In eight games since, he's 4-for-34 with a 5/0 K/BB ratio. His fantasy value should go up for as long as he lasts as the Royals' cleanup hitter, but he's in danger of being dropped again if he continues to slump.
Apr 19 - 5:55 PM

Kurt Suzuki had a solo homer and a two-run single Saturday against the Royals.

We all laughed when the Twins threatened to hit Suzuki second this year, but he has a .375 OBP so far. In fact, everyone the Twins had batting second through seventh today ended today with at least a .370 OBP. Suzuki, for what it's worth, has hit second just once and has batted seventh in 11 of his 13 starts. We wouldn't expect him to keep this up, but he's off to a nice start.
Apr 19 - 5:52 PM

Welington Castillo went 2-for-4 with a two-run homer and two runs scored in Saturday's 8-4 win over the Reds.

Castillo blasted a two-run shot off Nick Christiani in the bottom of the seventh inning to provide some insurance runs for Chicago's bullpen. The 26-year-old has three home runs and eight RBI through 12 games this season and should have value in two-catcher mixed leagues.
Apr 19 - 5:51 PM

Edwin Jackson earned his first win of the season Saturday after giving up two runs over 5 2/3 innings against the Reds.

Jackson struck out five and walked a pair in the victory and gave up both runs in his final inning of work. The veteran right-hander has failed to complete six innings in three out of his four starts this season and simply isn't a reliable fantasy option right now. He'll face one of his many former teams next week when he goes up against the Diamondbacks at home.
Apr 19 - 5:51 PM

Tony Cingrani gave up three runs over five innings Saturday in a loss to the Cubs.

Cingrani needed 104 pitches (55 strikes) to complete his five innings of work. He walked four and struck out three in the loss. He gave up four hits, so he has yet to give up more than five hits in any of his 22 starts in the majors. He'll bring a 3.22 ERA into a start against the Pirates next week in Pittsburgh.
