Ivan Nova allowed seven runs on nine hits over five-lus innings in Sunday's loss to the Rockies.

Nova was able to keep the Rockies off the board until the fourth inning, when he surrendered four runs. Charlie Blackmon would add on with a solo homer in the fifth before the Rockies knocked him out of the game in the sixth. Nova struck out five and walked one in the lackluster effort. He will try for better times when he carries his 3.62 ERA and WHIP into a road start against the Padres next time he takes to the mound.

Justin Upton went 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI as the Tigers topped the Twins 9-6 on Sunday afternoon.

Upton delivered an RBI double to get the Tigers on the board in the third inning. He also swiped his ninth base of the season in the contest and scored a run. The Tigers' most consistent hitter this season, Upton is hitting .280/.368/.511 with 16 homers, 61 RBI and nine stolen bases.

Jose Iglesias blasted a two-run homer as the Tigers topped the Twins in Minnesota on Sunday.

His two-run shot gave the Tigers a 4-2 lead in the seventh inning. He later added an RBI single, finishing the afternoon 3-for-5 with a pair of runs scored and three RBI. The defensive whiz is hitting .264/.294/.363 with three homers and 31 RBI on the year.

Justin Wilson secured his 12th save of the season on Sunday, allowing one run on one hit and a walk over 1 1/3 innings against the Twins.

Wilson was summoned to get the final out in the eighth inning with the Tigers leading by a run, then was left on to finish the ninth. He racked up three strikeouts in his outing. His name continues to be very popular on the trade front and it looks increasingly likely that he'll be donning a new uniform in August.

Matt Boyd racked up a career-high eight strikeouts over six-plus innings of three-run baseball on Sunday in a victory over the Twins.

The southpaw scattered four hits and three walks on the afternoon. Boyd was tagged for a two-run homer by Eduardo Escobar in the second inning, but that was the only damage against him until the bullpen allowed one of his inherited runners to score in the seventh. Boyd will carry a 5.48 ERA and 1.68 WHIP into Saturday's difficult matchup against the Astros.

Brian Dozier clubbed his 16th home run of the season as the Twins fell to the Tigers in Minnesota on Sunday.

Dozier tagged Tigers' closer Justin Wilson for the solo shot in the ninth inning. He finished the afternoon 2-for-4 plus a walk and is now slashing .253/.340/.448 with 16 long balls and 48 RBI on the season.
Jul 23 - 6:35 PM

Adalberto Mejia pitched decently in a no-decision against the Tigers on Sunday, allowing two runs (one earned) on five hits over 4 1/3 innings.

Mejia punched out five on the afternoon while walking two. All of the damage against him came on a Justin Upton two-run double in the third inning. Mejia now sports a 4.10 ERA and 1.45 WHIP on the season. He'll do battle against the A's his next time out in Oakland on Saturday.

Red Sox team president Dave Dombrowski announced Sunday that top prospect Rafael Devers will be recalled from Triple-A Pawtucket to play third base.

Devers was just moved up to Triple-A on July 14 where he hit .355 with a pair of homers and four RBI in his eight games. The 20-year-old sensation should get a chance to hold the position for the remainder of the season and could be a worthwhile investment in mixed leagues.
