Mike Puma of the New York Post reports that the Mets don't plan to attend Tim Lincecum's showcase on Friday.

Finally, news of a team who won't be in attendance. More than a dozen teams reportedly will be, including the likes of the Angels, Mariners, Dodgers, Cubs, Padres, Giants, Athletics, Rangers, Astros, White Sox, Nationals, and Orioles. The two-time NL Cy Young Award winner is rehabbing from hip surgery and hopes to land a starting job somewhere.

Red Sox manager John Farrell said on MLB Network Radio on Sirius XM that Pablo Sandoval's left shoulder was scheduled for Tuesday morning.

The Red Sox haven't released any specifics, but Jeff Passan of Yahoo Sports hears that the procedure included a repair of a labrum tear and cleanup of his rotator cuff. The expectation is that he'll the entire 2016 season. Sandoval is still owed $53 million from 2017-2019 with $17 million club option or a $5 million buyout for 2020.

Red Sox activated RHP Carson Smith from the 15-day disabled list.

Smith, who began the season on the disabled list with a strained flexor tendon, was cleared to join the Red Sox after making it through two minor league rehab games. The 26-year-old was acquired from the Mariners over the winter and is capable of being a dominant set-up man if healthy.

Ryan Kalish could be called up from Triple-A Iowa if Matt Szczur (hamstring) needs to be placed on the 15-day disabled list.

Szczur left Monday's game with hamstring tightness and was scheduled to undergo an MRI on Tuesday. Kalish, 28, hasn't appeared in the majors since 2014. He's batting .368/.471/.509 through 20 games in Triple-A this season.

According to MLB Trade Rumors, Dale Thayer has opted out of his minor league contract with the Dodgers.

Thayer latched on with the Dodgers after spring training and had a 6.75 ERA with 10 strikeouts and two walks over eight innings. The 35-year-old will look for an opportunity elsewhere.

Mitch Harris (elbow) has been cleared to resume a throwing program.

Harris got the go-ahead after a checkup with Dr. George Paletta on Monday. The 30-year-old was forced to begin the season on the disabled list with compression syndrome, which is a nerve issue in his right elbow.

Pablo Sandoval needs reconstructive surgery on his left shoulder, per ESPN's Buster Olney.

Peter Abraham of the Boston Globe reported Monday night that the surgery is "significant" and the odds are against Sandoval playing this season, so Olney's report appears to jibe with that. The 29-year-old has received all sorts of criticism for his level of fitness, but his situation is much more complicated. The big question is what sort of future Sandoval has in Boston. He still has three guaranteed years (and $58 million) on his contract. The Red Sox will have the DH spot open after David Ortiz retires, so that could be where Sandoval slots in if healthy in 2017. A change of scenery might be the best for all involved, but the Red Sox would have to pick up most of his remaining contract for anyone to take a chance on him.

Brewers recalled RHP Junior Guerra from Triple-A Colorado Springs.

Guerra will start Tuesday against the Angels. Claimed off waivers from the White Sox last October, the 31-year-old had a 4.63 ERA and 23/9 K/BB ratio in 23 1/3 innings over four starts in Triple-A. He made three relief appearances for the White Sox last season, but this will be his first major league start. Fantasy owners have better options to choose from.
