Neil Walker is out of the Mets' lineup Monday for the second consecutive day.

Walker is batting .190 with a .544 OPS in 163 plate appearances since the beginning of June. Kelly Johnson is getting another start at second base and batting fifth versus Cardinals right-hander Carlos Martinez.
Jul 25 - 3:22 PM

Cardinals transferred RHP Jordan Walden from the 15-day disabled list to the 60-day disabled list.

Walden hasn't thrown a pitch in a meaningful game (minors or majors) since last July and probably isn't going to be an option for St. Louis down the stretch in 2016.
Jul 25 - 3:16 PM

Cardinals purchased the contract of RHP Jerome Williams from Triple-A Memphis.

Williams will be available out of the Cardinals' bullpen for Monday night's series opener against the Mets. The veteran right-hander had a 4.89 ERA, 1.39 WHIP, and 34/15 K/BB ratio through 57 innings this season with Memphis. He probably won't be up for very long.
Jul 25 - 3:12 PM

Cardinals optioned RHP Mike Mayers to Triple-A Memphis.

Mayers surrendered nine earned runs while recording only four outs Sunday in his major league debut against the Dodgers. It could be a while before we see him again.
Jul 25 - 3:10 PM

Yankees recalled RHP Luis Severino from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

Severino is expected to be available out of the Yankees' bullpen on Monday night in Houston. This could be a quick stopgap while the club awaits the arrival of Adam Warren, who was reacquired from the Cubs in the Aroldis Chapman trade on Monday afternoon. Severino, 22, has posted a decent 3.25 ERA, 1.08 WHIP, and 57/15 K/BB ratio in 63 2/3 innings (10 starts) since his demotion to the Triple-A level back in May. He had a 7.46 ERA in seven starts with New York.
Jul 25 - 3:06 PM

Craig Kimbrel (knee) threw around 20 pitches off the mound at Fenway Park on Monday.

The workout was observed by Red Sox manager John Farrell, two coaches, two trainers, and two physical therapists. It ended with a round of fist-bumps, which is usually a positive sign. Kimbrel will throw off a mound again Wednesday and could then be cleared to face live hitters. He is on track to return to the Boston bullpen early next week in Seattle. Brad Ziegler is currently filling in at closer.
Jul 25 - 3:02 PM

Blue Jays optioned 1B Chris Colabello to Triple-A Buffalo.

Colabello was reinstated from his 80-game performance-enhancing drug suspension on Sunday, but the Blue Jays aren't ready to add him back to their active major league roster. The 32-year-old is batting just .189/.262/.324 on his 10-game rehab assignment.
Jul 25 - 2:58 PM

Phillies returned Rule 5 Draft pick LHP Daniel Stumpf to the Royals.

Stumpf was designated for assignment by the Phillies last week and the Royals took the opportunity to reacquire the left-hander. He will be sent to Triple-A Omaha.
