Eagles LG Evan Mathis (MCL) said he's been cleared to resume practicing.

Currently on the I.R./return list, Mathis isn't eligible to play until Week 10, but it's sounding good for his chances of hitting the playing field then. Mathis is one of the best guards in football. The Eagles also recently got back RT Lane Johnson from suspension. The arrow should be pointing up on Shady McCoy.

Rashad Jennings was noncommittal Monday when asked if he will return from his MCL sprain following the Giants' Week 8 bye.

"I'm not God," said Jennings. "I'm going through my checkpoints. I want to see where it lays." Jennings will try to run on the knee during the open date. He's not begun doing any running outside of the water yet. "You're talking about a running back coming back from an MCL [sprain]," coach Tom Coughlin said. "This is not an easy thing for Rashad either. He is well aware of that. It's his makeup we're counting on. Again, he's doing everything in his power, I can guarantee you that."

Titans coach Ken Whisenhunt expressed displeasure with Bishop Sankey after the rookie ran out of bounds late in Sunday's loss to Washington.

The Titans were trying to salt clock and wound up losing the game. Sankey also had a critical drop on a screen pass that would've gone for a first down and then some. Sankey has been far from perfect during his rookie year, but he's still Tennessee's best option when everyone is healthy. Sankey will continue to be an RB3/flex when the Titans take on the Texans in Week 8.

Coach Jay Gruden announced Monday he is planning to start Colt McCoy at quarterback in Week 8 against the Cowboys.

NBC's Dianna Marie Russini passes along that Robert Griffin III (ankle) "has been medically cleared to add to his workload," but the plan for now is to give McCoy the nod. After facing the Cowboys, the Redskins will play the Vikings in Week 9. That seems like Griffin's earliest-possible return date. In a home game against noodle-armed career journeyman backup McCoy, Dallas' fantasy defense will be worth a look as a Week 8 streamer.

Coach Ken Whisenhunt reiterated Monday that Jake Locker (thumb) remains the Titans' starting quarterback when healthy.

Per Whisenhunt, the plan is for Locker to throw on Tuesday and the Titans will "see how he responds Wednesday." Whiz said after Sunday's loss to the Redskins that he "would expect" Locker to return in Week 8 against the Texans, although there are clearly no guarantees. Locker has been an utter NFL bust.

Giants MLB Jon Beason will visit Dr. Robert Anderson regarding his latest toe injury this week.

As beat writer Jordan Raanan notes, "not good." In Sunday's loss to Dallas, Beason aggravated a toe injury that has plagued him since training camp. The Giants signed Beason to a new three-year, $16.8 million contract in March.

Donald Brown (concussion) would not have participated had the Chargers held a practice on Monday.

Brown can safely be ruled out for Thursday night's tilt with Denver.
Oct 20 - 4:27 PM

Had the Chargers held a practice on Monday, Ryan Mathews (MCL) would not have participated.

Mathews isn't going to play on Thursday night, and his status is unclear for Week 9 as well. Branden Oliver will remain the feature back against Denver.
