Michael Dunn nailed down his second career save in Sunday's win over the Diamondbacks.

Marlins manager Mike Redmond decided to pull closer Steve Cisherk and go to Dunn with two on and lefty Miguel Montero coming up. Dunn walked Montero but then got A.J. Pollock to ground out after running the count full. With Cishek's struggles against left-handers this year, it's possible Dunn could see the occasional save opportunity.

Steve Cishek was pulled from a save chance Sunday after allowing a two-out single and a walk.

Cishek came on after Ricky Nolasco gave up a leadoff double and got a groundout and sac fly before running into trouble. The closer then gave way to Mike Dunn, who walked a batter before getting a groundout to end it. Cishek has been dominant against right-handers this season, but lefties have really given him fits. It's possible Dunn could see the occasional save chance if matchups dictate it.

Wade Miley held the Marlins to two runs over six innings but suffered a loss on Sunday.

The left-hander struck out six and gave up just five hits and a walk, but the Marlins got a two-out single from Derek Dietrich followed by a two-RBI double from Marcell Ozuna in the sixth, and that's all they needed. Miley has won just one of his previous seven starts, but he still holds a solid 3.67 ERA and 1.33 WHIP on the year. He'll get the Padres next.

Marcell Ozuna drove in the Marlins' only two runs with a two-RBI double in Sunday's win over the Diamondbacks.

The big two-out hit came in the sixth inning and was all the runs the Marlins needed in the pitchers' duel. Ozuna now has a modest five-game hitting streak going and is batting .297 over 18 games to go along with eight RBI. He's likely played his way into being kept on the big league roster after Giancarlo Stanton's return.

Jason Grilli earned his 17th save of the season Sunday in the Pirates' 1-0 defeat of the Astros.

Grilli retired all three batters he faced, needing only 10 pitches. He's been probably the best closer in baseball through the first seven weeks of the 2013 season, boasting a 0.92 ERA, 0.66 WHIP and 31/4 K/BB ratio in 19 2/3 innings. He has not blown an opportunity.
May 19 - 4:10 PM

Jeff Locke fired seven scoreless innings Sunday in the Pirates' victory over the Astros.

Locke looked excellent against the hapless Houston offense, yielding only three hits and two walks. He's now 4-1 with a cool 2.73 ERA and 1.14 WHIP in 52 2/3 innings this season, but some regression should be expected. Locke will face off against the Brewers next.

Lucas Harrell allowed just one run over seven innings but the Astros lost to the Pirates on Sunday.

Harrell got exactly zero support from his offense and was handed his fifth loss despite pitching very well. He allowed just four hits -- one double and three singles -- while striking out three batters and walking only one. The right-hander will try to keep it rolling next week against the A's.
May 19 - 4:05 PM

Justin Masterson struck out a season-high 11 batters while tossing seven scoreless frames in Sunday's 6-0 win over the Mariners.

Masterson permitted just three singles, walked a pair and hit a batter. The brilliant outing comes on the heels of a shutout of the Yankees, and he has now won seven games on the year. The big right-hander is looking much more like the 2011 version and in fact has been even better to this point. He'll bring a 2.83 ERA and 1.13 WHIP into Boston next weekend.
