Aaron Blair was scratched from his scheduled start Thursday for Triple-A Gwinnett.

Jul 20 - 6:41 PM

Dodgers activated LHP Grant Dayton from the 10-day disabled list.

Sergio Romo was designated for assignment in the corresponding move. Dayton missed two weeks with neck stiffness. He'll serve as a left-handed specialist out of the Dodgers' pen.
Jul 20 - 6:38 PM

Dodgers designated RHP Sergio Romo for assignment.

That clears a roster spot for Grant Dayton, who is back from the 10-day DL. Romo's Dodgers career ends with a brutal 6.12 ERA over 30 outings. Injuries have hampered Romo over the last few years including a stint on the disabled list last month. Despite his struggles this season, the 34-year-old has a proven track record and shouldn't take long to resurface.
Jul 20 - 6:37 PM

Logan Forsythe is not in the Dodgers' lineup Thursday against the Braves.

He's getting a maintenance day. Forsythe has struggled since the All-Star break, batting just .188 over 16 at-bats. Chase Utley will fill in at second and bat leadoff against Braves right-hander Mike Foltynewicz.
Jul 20 - 6:35 PM

Eduardo Nunez (hamstring) is back in the Giants' lineup Thursday against the Padres.

Nunez wasn't in the lineup Wednesday but singled as a pinch-hitter later in the game. He's been dealing with hamstring issues for about a month and the Giants are obviously going to err on the side of caution with the trade deadline coming up. Nunez will start at third base and bat second Thursday against right-hander Jhoulys Chacin.
Jul 20 - 6:20 PM

Nate Karns (elbow) underwent successful thoracic outlet surgery on Wednesday.

Karns hadn't pitched in a game since May 19. He logged a 4.17 ERA in his first year with Kansas City. Karns should be recovered by the start of spring training next season.
Jul 20 - 5:43 PM

Mariners optioned RHP Sam Gaviglio to Triple-A Tacoma.

That clears a spot for reliever Max Povse. Gaviglio has lost his last four starts while contributing a 6.65 ERA during that span. He'll be back eventually.
Jul 20 - 5:25 PM

Mariners recalled RHP Max Povse from Triple-A Tacoma.

The Mariners cleared a roster spot for him by sending Sam Gaviglio down to Triple-A. The right-hander holds a dreadful 10.13 ERA in the majors this year, though that's come from an extremely small sample size (2 2/3 innings). He'll work in middle relief.
