Aaron Sanchez was suspended three games by MLB for throwing at Royals shortstop Alcides Escobar on Sunday.
Things were tense all weekend between the clubs and Sunday's incident caused both benches to empty. It's unclear whether Sanchez intends to appeal the suspension. Blue Jays manager John Gibbons has also received a one-game suspension for coming back onto the field following his ejection earlier in the game.
Matt Boyd will be called up from Triple-A Toledo to start Wednesday against the Royals.
Boyd, who was acquired from the Blue Jays in last week's David Price deal, will start in Buck Farmer's place. The 24-year-old struggled in his first two major league starts this season, but he has posted a 1.65 ERA with 8.5 K/9 and 2.1 BB/9 over 19 starts between Double- and Triple-A. Those in mixed formats can wait and see, but he should be relevant in AL-only formats.
Braves recalled RHP Ryan Kelly from Triple-A Gwinnett.
Kelly will take Jason Frasor's spot in the bullpen. Kelly has made three appearances with the Braves this season and has posted a 0.87 ERA and 40/13 K/BB ratio over 41 1/3 innings between Double- and Triple-A.
Braves recalled INF/OF Joey Terdoslavich from Triple-A Gwinnett.
Terdoslavich will replace the injured Freddie Freeman (oblique) on the active roster. The 26-year-old is batting .147/.171/.265 in 19 games with the Braves this season and will function in a utility role.
Braves placed RHP Jason Frasor on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to August 2, with a right shoulder strain.
No word on how long he'll be sidelined. Frasor has tossed 4 2/3 scoreless innings since joining the Braves last month.
Braves placed 1B Freddie Freeman on the 15-day disabled list with a right oblique strain.
A tough break for Freeman, who just recently returned from a right wrist contusion. He suffered the injury during Monday's game and will now require another extended absence. Chris Johnson and Joey Terdoslavich figure to fill in at first base.
C.J. Wilson is scheduled to meet with with Dr. Neal ElAttrache on August 11 for a second opinion on his elbow.
Wilson has been pitching through bone spurs and is currently leaning toward season-ending surgery, but he won't make a final decision until he meets with ElAttrache. The Angels have approached him about potentially putting off surgery and pitching out of the bullpen down the stretch, but there's still a good chance that his season is over.
Dodgers optioned C Austin Barnes to Triple-A Oklahoma City.
Barnes will head back down to the minors now that A.J. Ellis (knee) is back to full health. He should be back in September.
