FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal reports that the Orioles are "closing in" on a trade for Gerardo Parra.

Rosenthal says the Brewers will receive pitching prospect Zach Davies in return. Parra has turned into a nice trade chip for Milwaukee by batting .328/.369/.517 with nine homers and nine stolen bases this season. The O's are also after Ben Revere as they look to remake their corner outfield spots.

MLB.com's Joe Frisaro reports that Dan Haren is "drawing interest from several clubs."

Just Wednesday Frisaro reported that Haren was "shaping up as an August (trade) candidate," but it appears there's now a good chance of him getting moved Friday. The veteran right-hander boasts a 3.42 ERA and 1.09 WHIP this season and is making $10 million.
Jul 31 - 10:29 AM

ESPN's Jerry Crasnick hears that there's a "50/50" chance of Yovani Gallardo being traded Friday.

He says that the Dodgers, Cubs and Blue Jays are still "in the mix" for the right-hander. The Rangers are open to dealing Gallardo, but Crasnick says they'll just keep him if they don't get a proposal they like and then make him a qualifying offer after the season.

FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal hears that Diamondbacks chief baseball officer Tony La Russa wants Aroldis Chapman "badly."

Rosenthal says that the out-of-contention Diamondbacks would acquire Chapman with the idea of signing him to a contract extension. Chapman is making $8.05 million this season and will be arbitration-eligible for a final time over the winter. Of course, whether Chapman would be agreeable to a long-term deal with Arizona isn't known. It's unclear at this point if a trade is close.
Jul 31 - 10:11 AM

CBS Sports' Jon Heyman reports that the Yankees "may turn to" Carter Capps if they're unable to complete a deal for Craig Kimbrel.

They've also been connected to Aroldis Chapman, although it could all be a ploy to get San Diego to lower their asking price for Kimbrel. Capps isn't as flashy of a name as either of the aforementioned closers, but he's been one of the best relievers in baseball this season with a 1.21 ERA and ridiculous 56 strikeouts over 29 2/3 innings.

Jay Bruce - OF - Reds

Adam Rubin of ESPNNewYork.com reports that the Mets and Reds are "pretty far along" on a trade involving Jay Bruce.

Rubin says the two clubs are reviewing medicals on all the players involved, so it sounds like something could be completed soon. Acquiring Bruce means the Mets would move Curtis Granderson to center field and Juan Lagares to the bench. Bruce is under team control through 2017.
Jul 31 - 9:48 AM

USA Today's Bob Nightengale reports that the Yankees are one of five teams "aggressively pursuing" Aroldis Chapman.

The Diamondbacks are known to be one of the others clubs. The Giants have poked around on Chapman but might be out of it after trading some assets for Mike Leake. The Yankees appear dead-set on adding a closer despite already having Andrew Miller and Dellin Betances, as they've also been linked heavily to Craig Kimbrel.
Jul 31 - 9:43 AM

CBS Sports' Jon Heyman reports that Julio Teheran's name is "not out there now" in trade talks.

FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal reports last week that the Braves were "quite open" to the idea of dealing Teheran, but they've apparently pulled him off the market. It would be an odd time to trade him, anyway, since he's having a disappointing season and Atlanta might not be able to get what he's worth.
