ESPN's Adam Schefter reports Jimmy Garoppolo (shoulder) is "definitely making progress" and there is hope he can be ready for Week 4.

Schefter reported earlier this week Garoppolo had "a chance" to be active, so this sounds like better news. Schefter also said the Patriots do not believe Jacoby Brissett's thumb injury is serious. It is starting to look like New England could have both quarterbacks next week against the Bills.

Orleans Darkwa is expected to share carries with Shane Vereen in the absence of Rashad Jennings (thumb) against the Redskins.

Beat writer Jordan Raanan still expects Vereen to be New York's Week 3 lead back, but Darkwa is a sneaky bet for goal-line work and should also handle 9-13 carries off the bench. Raanan leaves the door open for "maybe a slight infusion of Bobby Rainey and Paul Perkins." Vereen is a strong RB2 play in PPR leagues. Darkwa is worth a look if you're desperate for a flex play.

CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora confirms Andrew Luck (shoulder) "is starting" Sunday against San Diego.

Luck's practice reps were limited during the week and he was listed as questionable, but there was never any concern about his availability among beat reporters. Some parts of the DFS community got worried when the Colts-Chargers game was pulled off the board at a few Vegas sportsbooks on Wednesday, but it is up at every meaningful sportsbook at the moment. There is some concern about Luck's sore shoulder, but he will be starting Sunday versus San Diego.

According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, the Vikings want Adrian Peterson to retire "as a valued member of the organization."

There's been speculation the team could move on from Peterson this offseason because of his contract, but apparently the Vikings are willing to do whatever they can to keep him in Minnesota for the long run. After taking on Sam Bradford's expensive salary, the Vikings will probably have to renegotiate Peterson's deal. He's slated to earn $11.75 million in base salary next season along with a $6 million roster bonus due on the third day of the new year. Peterson is expected to miss at least the rest of the regular season after going down with a torn meniscus in Week 2.
