Tim Beckham went 2-for-4 with a triple and four RBI as the Rays trampled the Tigers on Tuesday.

Beckham put the Rays up 1-0 with an RBI single in the second inning. The Rays had the bases loaded for him with the eighth and he promptly unloaded them with a triple as part of a five-run frame. Beckham has been on fire since rejoining the team to begin the second half, batting .346 (9-for-26) in 10 games.

David Price lost to the Rays on Tuesday, surrendering five runs in six innings of work.

The Rays jumped on him for three runs in the fourth inning, two of which came on the first of Curt Casali's two home runs. Casali victimized Price again for a solo shot in the sixth. The lefty, overall, allowed seven hits and a pair of walks while striking out four. He stands with a terrific 2.53 ERA, 1.11 WHIP, and a 138/29 K/BB ratio in 146 innings. If Price remains with the Tigers through the trade deadline, he's on tap to finish out a road trip in Baltimore against the Orioles.
Jul 28 - 11:00 PM

Jaime Garcia pitched well in defeat in his return to the mound Tuesday, allowing three runs over six innings in a loss to the Reds.

Garcia only yielded four hits while walking two on the night, but one of those was a three-run homer by Joey Votto in the sixth inning. He was otherwise sharp, striking out five while throwing just 80 pitches. Garcia was activated from the disabled list earlier Tuesday after missing a month with a groin strain. He owns a 2.00 ERA and 0.89 WHIP despite a 3-4 record, and Garcia will square off with the Rockies on Sunday.

Evan Longoria finished 1-for-4 in Tuesday's rout of the Tigers, slugging a solo home run.

Longoria kickstarted a five-run eighth inning to blow the Tigers out of the water, taking Neftali Feliz out to right-center for a solo home run. The third baseman is on a modest six-game hitting streak, batting .268/.337/.420 with 11 home runs and 44 RBI on the year.
Jul 28 - 10:57 PM

Yoenis Cespedes went 2-for-4 with a solo home run, but the Tigers were felled by the Rays on Tuesday.

Cespedes hit a solo home run off of Jake Odorizzi in the fourth inning to create a 1-1 tie. He's gone deep in back-to-back games and seven times in 19 games since July 6, giving him 17 on the year with 58 RBI and a .289/.321/.500. The Tigers are four games under .500 with less than three days remaining until the trade deadline. Cespedes remains a candidate to be moved in a trade.
Jul 28 - 10:55 PM

Curt Casali contributed two home runs in Tuesday's rout of the Tigers, finishing 3-for-4.

Casali belted two home runs on Monday as well. He drilled a two-run home run to left-center off of David Price in the fourth inning and added a solo shot in the sixth. Casali has only 55 plate appearances on the year, but has gone yard seven times with 11 RBI and a .300/.345/.780 batting line.

Jay Bruce - OF - Reds

Jay Bruce had an RBI single in Tuesday's win over the Cardinals.

Bruce was held in check by Cards starter Jaime Garcia, but he got in the action with a run-scoring single against reliever Miguel Socolovich in the ninth. Bruce finished 1-for-4 on the evening. He's somewhat quietly put together a nice stretch recently that has his line up to a respectable .257/.342/.480 with 16 homers and 55 RBI. That resurgence has his trade value up, too, as the deadline approaches.
Jul 28 - 10:52 PM

Greg Holland worked a scoreless ninth inning to pick up his 22nd save as the Royals edged the Indians 2-1 on Tuesday.

Holland issued a one-out walk to Michael Bourn, but he was immediately erased when Mike Aviles grounded into a game-ending double play. The right-hander has struggled thus far in the second half, but is 22-for-25 in save opportunities with a 3.13 ERA and a 35/18 K/BB ratio in 31 2/3 innings overall.
