Colby Rasmus struck out all four times he was up Monday in the loss to the Twins.

Rasmus is in a 3-for-25 slump that's dropped his average from .293 to .241. Most likely, he'll finish the year in the neighborhood of .241, though perhaps with enough power to remain of use in mixed leagues.

Jimmy Nelson held the Angels to two runs and four hits in seven innings to win Monday.

Nelson moved to 4-2 with a 3.05 ERA. He might not be an every-week play in mixed leagues just yet, but he does seem to be getting closer. He still needs to bring down the walk rate a tad; he's issued 17 free passes in 38 1/3 innings to date.
May 2 - 11:51 PM

Jeremy Hellickson was bitten by the longball Monday, serving up three homers and six runs in 5 1/3 innings in a loss to the Cardinals.

Hellickson cruised through the first three innings, but he's long been homer-prone and he served up dingers to Adam Wainwright, Matt Adams and Aledmys Diaz in the middle innings. The veteran right-hander has mixed in some nice outings this season, including seven shutout frames against the Nationals his last time out, but he's also had three subpar showings to push his ERA up to 4.88. He'll try to bounce back this weekend in Miami.
May 2 - 11:50 PM

Jered Weaver was pounded for seven runs and 11 hits in five innings Monday by the Brewers.

Weaver took his first loss after three victories. He hasn't been very good in either of his last two starts, and his ERA has jumped from 3.12 to 5.40. Maybe he'll hold his own going forward despite the extreme lack of velocity, but there just isn't anything here to help fantasy leaguers.
May 2 - 11:48 PM

Jonathan Villar doubled in two runs, walked and stole a base Monday against the Angels.

Villar has five steals in five games, raising his season total to seven. He's doing a great job of getting on base for the Brewers, and it now seems pretty likely that he'll remain a regular once Orlando Arcia gets the call, probably at third base.
May 2 - 11:46 PM

Matt Adams singled, ripped a solo homer and scored a pair of runs in Monday's win over the Phillies.

Adams had one of five longballs on the night for the Cardinals, as he joined Kolten Wong, Aledmys Diaz, Randal Grichuk and Adam Wainwright in going deep. He's homered twice in his last four games and is suddenly sporting a nice .280/.345/.500 batting line after his mini hot streak. Adams will continue to fight for playing time at first base with Brandon Moss.
May 2 - 11:44 PM

Mike Trout finished 4-for-5 with a homer and three RBI in a losing cause Monday against Milwaukee.

After something of a slow start, Trout is close to his typical pace now. He's sitting at .313/.396/.563 with six homers and 18 RBI in 26 games.
May 2 - 11:43 PM

Johnny Giavotella went 0-for-4 on Monday and is hitting just .169/.183/.237 in 59 at-bats.

The Angels are certainly regretting never bringing in any real competition for Giavotella over the winter. He'll bounce back some offensively, but once defense is factored in, he's still not going to be a very good regular.
