Alex Meyer (back) said that he hopes to miss just one start.

Meyer was placed on the 10-day disabled list with a back injury earlier on Wednesday. He first felt tightness during his start on Saturday, tightness which recurred during between-starts bullpen work on Tuesday. Daniel Wright will be starting in his place against the Rays on Thursday, but that may be a one-off if Meyer does not experience any setbacks over the next few days.

Domingo Santana slugged a three-run homer in the Brewers' loss to the Blue Jays on Wednesday.

Santana's big fly in the bottom of the sixth inning drove Blue Jays starter Marcus Stroman from the game, but the Brewers couldn't muster any more runs. Santana finished the game 1-for-3 with three RBI, a run scored, and a walk. He's slashing .268/.370/.449 with six home runs and 22 RBI in 43 games this season.
May 24 - 4:26 PM

Brad Miller (abdomen) has started running as he continues his rehab.

Miller took part in light infield practice on Tuesday. While he won't be ready to rejoin the team when eligible on May 26, he is clearly beginning to feel better. He could potentially return to the Rays some time late next week. He was placed on the disabled list with a lower abdominal strain on May 16.
May 24 - 4:24 PM

Keon Broxton stayed hot Wednesday with a solo home run off Blue Jays starter Marcus Stroman.

Broxton entered the day batting .348/.384/.580 in May and he got the Brewers on the board in his first at-bat. The dynamic center fielder has begun to meet the preseason fantasy hype, now with five homers, 14 RBI, 10 steals, and 25 runs scored in 41 total games. He finished 1-for-3 on Wednesday.
May 24 - 4:24 PM

Matt Garza was hammered for six earned runs over 5 1/3 innings Wednesday in a loss to the Blue Jays.

Garza had been in a nice groove in May, but it was never meant to last. He surrendered three home runs on Wednesday, including a Ryan Goins grand slam in the top of the sixth inning. The veteran right-hander now stands 2-1 with a 3.60 ERA in 35 innings (six starts) this season and makes for too risky of a play in standard fantasy leagues.
May 24 - 4:20 PM

Felix Hernandez (shoulder) will throw a bullpen session on Sunday.

Hernandez played long toss on Tuesday and came away from that without any discomfort. Right shoulder inflammation has kept him on the shelf since April 26. As he begins to throw off the mound, a concrete timetable for his return should begin to clarify. It looks to be several more weeks before he rejoins the rotation.
May 24 - 4:19 PM

Marcus Stroman got a win Wednesday despite allowing four earned runs over 5 2/3 innings against the Brewers.

Stroman was backed by eight runs from the Toronto offense. He gave the Brewers some life in the bottom of the sixth when he let up a three-run homer to Domingo Santana, but Milwaukee was held scoreless from there by the Blue Jays bullpen. Stroman watched his ERA jump from 3.00 to 3.30 but picked up his fifth win. He walked four and struck out five. A start at home against the Reds comes next.
May 24 - 4:18 PM

Denard Span (hand) is in the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Cubs.

Span sat out the past two games due to inflammation in his left hand. No structural damage, though, and he will leadoff on Wednesday. Kyle Hendricks and Matt Moore will toe the rubber for the Cubs and Giants, respectively, in this one.
