Josh Johnson - S - Blue Jays

Josh Johnson allowed one run over three innings Monday in his first minor league rehab start with High-A Dunedin.

It was Johnson's first game action since April 21. He gave up three hits while striking out five and walking none. The Blue Jays want him to make at least one more rehab start, but he's on track to return in the early part of June.

Rubby De La Rosa - R - Red Sox

Red Sox prospect right-hander Rubby De La Rosa was scratched from Tuesday's start with Triple-A Pawtucket for precautionary reasons after he tweaked a muscle in his side.

It's evidently not a major concern, but the Red Sox didn't want to risk him making things worse. De La Rosa has a 3.65 ERA and 29/14 K/BB ratio in 24 2/3 innings across eight starts this season in Triple-A and should make an impact with the big club before long.

Tyler Cloyd - S - Phillies

Phillies recalled RHP Tyler Cloyd from Triple-A Lehigh Valley.

Cloyd will return to make the start Tuesday night against the Marlins. The 25-year-old right-hander allowed two runs on four hits over seven innings against the Diamondbacks back on May 10 and makes for a decent streaming option in NL-only leagues.

Carlos Ruiz - C - Phillies

Phillies placed C Carlos Ruiz on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to May 20, with a right hamstring strain.

Ruiz was diagnosed with a Grade 2 strain of his hamstring and is expected to miss 3-4 weeks. It's a tough blow for the Phillies, who just got Ruiz back from his suspension less than one month ago. Erik Kratz and Humberto Quintero will fill in behind the plate once again.

Anthony Rendon - 3B - Nationals

Nationals prospect Anthony Rendon started at second base Monday night for Double-A Harrisburg.

It's interesting given Danny Espinosa's struggles, but Nationals manager Davey Johnson doesn't think Rendon is ready to play second base at the major league level yet. "We like him – we like him a lot," said Johnson. "But putting him at second at the major-league level, he’s not there yet. He’s not (playing second) specifically. He’s just occasionally going over there." Rendon is hitting .390 (23-for-59) with four home runs and 16 RBI since his demotion earlier this month. Nothing appears imminent, but it would be a good idea to continue to monitor his progress in fantasy leagues.

Ruben Tejada - SS - Mets

According to Andy Martino of the New York Daily News, the Mets have discussed demoting Ike Davis, Ruben Tejada, and Jordany Valdespin.

Davis doesn't come as a big surprise given his miserable slump, but Tejada has also been a major disappointment while Valdespin hasn't produced enough to be worth the distraction his presence causes on the roster. The Mets still see Davis and Tejada as potential long-term pieces, so any decision will be made with careful consideration about their development.

Gordon Beckham - 2B - White Sox

Gordon Beckham (hand) started at shortstop Monday in his third rehab game with Triple-A Charlotte.

Beckham played shortstop in college and as a prospect, but he has never done so in the majors. Of course, Alexei Ramirez is in the second year of a four-year, $32.5 million contract, so there would have to be an injury or a trade for him to get a look there with the big club. Still, it's an interesting development. Beckham is hitting .462 (6-for-13) with one double and two RBI over three rehab games and should be activated this weekend.

A.J. Pierzynski - C - Rangers

Rangers activated C A.J. Pierzynski from the 15-day disabled list.

Pierzynski went 1-for-6 with a strikeout in two rehab games with Double-A Frisco and didn't have any issues with his oblique. The 36-year-old backstop returns to a .263/.297/.411 batting line to go along with four home runs and 11 RBI in 26 games.
