Free agent WR Jon Baldwin worked out for the Giants on Tuesday.
It's the first we've heard of the 2011 first-rounder since he was waived by the Lions in early August. Baldwin appeared in seven games for the 49ers last season, but caught only three passes. He's just about washed out of the NFL.
Seahawks claimed TE Brett Brackett off waivers from the Titans.
TE Rashaun Allen has been waived in a corresponding roster move. Brackett will back up Cooper Helfet if Luke Willson (groin) can't go for Week 8.
Saints signed G/C Eric Olsen.
It's a sign the Saints expect Jonathan Goodwin (lower leg) to miss Week 8. Olsen has made 17 career appearances, though zero of those have come since 2012.
WGR 550 Buffalo cautions "(not to) be surprised" if Anthony Dixon leads the Bills' running back committee this weekend.
Ace reporter Joe Buscaglia knows "everyone is waiting for Bryce Brown to be unleashed," but says the Bills "love" Dixon. Dixon himself is under the impression that he'll be the lead man, but hard answers could be hard to come by before Buffalo takes on the Jets. Brown is the more talented player. Both backs need to be 100 percent owned in 12-14 team leagues.
Speaking in a Tuesday radio interview, Reggie Wayne (elbow) said it's "too early" to know if he'll suit up for Sunday's game against the Steelers.
Wayne will sit out Wednesday's practice, but that's something he's done all season. Reading through the lines of the rest of Wayne's interview, it sounds like he will miss Week 8, but should be back to full speed in 1-2 weeks. His status will be updated on Wednesday.
According to HoustonTexans.com, there's a "decent chance" Jadeveon Clowney (knee) returns for Week 8.
"He feels good," coach Bill O'Brien said Monday. "Well see how it goes this week in practice. We'll be able to make a determination pretty soon about whether he can play or not." Clowney has been sidelined since Week 1.
Bucs waived DE Scott Solomon.
DE T.J. Fatinikun has been promoted from the practice squad in a corresponding roster move. Solomon was active for each of the Bucs' first six games, notching a sack as he played 177 snaps. Going on 26, he'll search for reserve work.
Giants MLB Jon Beason (toe) expects to know by Wednesday whether he needs surgery.
Beason is visiting a specialist on Tuesday. Even if he gets good news, it sounds like he'll be no better than 50-50 to suit up when the G-Men come off their bye in Week 9.
