NFL reinstated Cowboys DT Josh Brent; suspended him 10 games.

Sep 2 - 6:23 PM

Saints waived QB Ryan Griffin.

Griffin was beaten out by Luke McCown to back up Drew Brees. His late release is a bit of dirty pool from the Saints, as it lessens his chances of latching on elsewhere. The Saints almost certainly waited to make the move to increase their chances of stashing him on the practice squad. Griffin had a solid preseason, completing 48-of-77 passes for 530 yards, three touchdowns and one interception. A second-year undrafted free agent, Griffin is 25.
Sep 2 - 6:18 PM

Colts signed OG Jamon Meredith.

Meredith was among the Bucs' final cuts after combining to start 22 games the past two seasons. He provides depth for a Colts' interior line that's thin after the loss of LG Donald Thomas in July. C Khaled Holmes (ankle) is a "long shot" for Week 1.
Sep 2 - 6:06 PM

Saints re-signed K Shayne Graham.

Graham and Derek Dimke were both cut loose over the weekend, but the Saints couldn't find a better option on the open market. Graham is likely returning for slightly less than the $955,000 he was originally scheduled to make. A career 85.5-percent field-goal kicker, Graham will be a weekly K1 for the Saints' high-powered offense.
Sep 2 - 6:01 PM

Jets signed WR Quincy Enunwa to the practice squad.

A sixth-round pick, Enunwa was waived at final cuts. He'll likely be the first man up when the Jets need a body at receiver.
Sep 2 - 5:57 PM

Wes Welker (concussion) has been cleared for Wednesday's practice.

Welker has yet to gain final clearance for Sunday's opener against the Colts, but barring a setback, it's a formality. Welker's history of head injuries has grown increasingly troubling, but he'll be a WR3 whenever he takes the field.
Sep 2 - 5:54 PM

Mike Wallace estimates the Dolphins revealed "maybe 15 percent" of their playbook in the preseason.

New OC Bill Lazor's system came across as relatively tame in August, while coach Joe Philbin said the tempo wasn't where he wanted it to be. However, aside from Ryan Tannehill and Wallace's continued inability to get on the same page on deep balls, there's been no reason for alarm. A Chip Kelly disciple, Lazor's system should be a major improvement on Mike Sherman's.
Sep 2 - 5:48 PM

Larry Fitzgerald (knee) is "fine," and will start Monday's opener.

Fitz sat out Tuesday's unofficial practice, but it was just a precaution. Fitzgerald has missed only four games through 10 NFL seasons, but was slowed by a concussion and hamstring issues in 2013. Now 31, he's not quite the physical freak he once was.
