J.T. Riddle will continue be the Marlins' starter at shortstop following the trade of Adeiny Hechavarria to the Rays.

Riddle, 25, has batted an unimpressive .230/.251/.354 with three homers over his first 173 plate appearances with the big club. He's a downgrade from Hechavarria defensively and never hit much in the minors, either. For fantasy purposes, Riddle is merely a deep NL-only option.

Rays transferred RHP Diego Moreno from the 10-day disabled list to the 60-day disabled list.

The move clears a spot on the 40-man roster for Adeiny Hechavarria. Moreno now isn't eligible to return until late July.

Marlins acquired OF Braxton Lee and RHP Ethan Clark from the Rays in exchange for SS Adeiny Hechavarria.

Lee, 23, has hit .318/.387/.391 with two homers and 12 steals at the Double-A level this season. He's considered to be a potential fourth outfielder type.

Marlins acquired RHP Ethan Clark and OF Braxton Lee from the Rays in exchange for SS Adeiny Hechavarria.

Neither Clark nor Lee were ranked by MLB.com among the Rays' top 30 prospects. Clark, 22, holds a 3.11 ERA and 50/18 K/BB ratio over 55 innings at the Low-A level this season.

Rays acquired SS Adeiny Hechavarria from the Marlins in exchange for RHP Ethan Clark and OF Braxton Lee.

The deal was reported earlier Monday and is now official. Tampa will cover the rest of what remains of $4.35 million salary for this season, which is why they gave up very little in the deal. Hechavarria is a career .255/.291/.337 hitter, but he's an elite defender and is under team control through 2018. He'll remain on the disabled list for now but should be activated later this week.

Ben Zobrist (wrist) went through a workout Monday.

It's unclear what all he did during the workout, as Zobrist still had some tenderness in his left wrist the last time he tried to swing a bat. Progress does appear to be coming, but there's no timetable for his return.

Brandon Finnegan was lifted from Monday's start versus the Cardinals with an apparent injury.

Making his first start for the Reds since mid-April, Finnegan grimaced while delivering an offering to the leadoff hitter in the bottom of the fourth inning. After a talk with the trainer and manager Bryan Price, Finnegan walked off the field without throwing a warm-up pitch. Cincy should have an update on the lefty soon. Finnegan struggled before being pulled, allowing three runs on three hits and four walks over three-plus frames.

Chris Heisey (biceps) took batting practice Monday.

Heisey had to be pulled off his rehab assignment earlier this month after having a setback, but he's obviously made some progress recently. The veteran outfielder is attempting to play through a ruptured biceps tendon.
