Danny Santana (knee) won't return to the Twins before the All-Star break.

There had been some thought that Santana could be back when first eligible on Friday, but the team confirmed he'll need a rehab stint before returning. With so few days left before the break, he'll be able to take his time in coming back. Santana should head out on an assignment over the break before being activated sometime next week.

Rangers released INF Donnie Murphy.

Murphy was designated for assignment on Monday, and the infielder refused an outright assignment to Triple-A Round Rock. He'll try to catch on somewhere else in a utility role.

Adam Lind will miss the next six to eight weeks with a non-displaced fracture in his right foot.

Lind played in games as recently as Monday, but an MRI revealed the fracture after the first basemen felt some discomfort in the foot. It's a huge blow for the Blue Jays, as they're already missing Edwin Encarnacion for the next few weeks. Cole Gillespie just came into a lot more at-bats over the next month.

Kris Johnson will be promoted to start for the Twins on Friday.

Johnson will take the rotation spot of Ricky Nolasco, who was placed on the disabled list with a right elbow issue. Johnson held the Dodgers scoreless over 4 1/3 innings in a spot start earlier this year, but the southpaw walked six in the outing. The official move and a corresponding roster move likely won't be made until Friday.

A source tells Dan Connolly of the Baltimore Sun that the Orioles are "monitoring" Rockies starter Jorge De La Rosa.

The O's are in the market for a starting pitcher and the Rockies have been identified as one of the teams that will likely be sellers at the deadline, so the rumor makes some sense. Connolly notes that De La Rosa was once purchased by the Red Sox when current Orioles general manager Dan Duquette was the team's GM. The southpaw has a 4.75 ERA and 1.31 WHIP over 18 starts this season, and he'll be a free agent this winter.

Albert Pujols went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run in Wednesday's 8-7 win over the Blue Jays.

Pujols had a string of four straight multi-hit games snapped with an 0-for-4 night Tuesday, but he was right back at it on Wednesday. The home run, his 20th of the year, gave the Angels a one-run lead, and they ended up winning by the same margin. He also scored a run in the third inning. His strong push has his season line at .270/.321/.489 with a few days left before the All-Star break.
Jul 9 - 7:33 PM

Nolan Reimold went 2-for-4 with three RBI in a loss to the Angels on Wednesday.

Reimold doubled twice in Tuesday's win, and his third double in a Jays uniform plated two. The 30-year-old also drew a bases-loaded walk to drive in a run. He was added to take some of the sting out of losing Edwin Encarnacion, and he continues to get regular at-bats he should be a nice AL-only option while Encarnacion is down.
Jul 9 - 7:32 PM

Joe Smith worked a scoreless ninth inning Wednesday to earn the save against the Blue Jays.

The acquisition of Jason Grilli has done nothing to Smith's role as the team's closer, as he's now gone seven straight appearances without allowing a hit. On Wednesday, Smith set down the Blue Jays in order, striking out two. The right-hander has 12 saves on the year, and he owns a 2.50 ERA, 0.96 WHIP and 43/9 K/BB ratio over 39 2/3 innings.
