Angels placed OF Matt Joyce on the 7-day concussion disabled list.
Joyce suffered a concussion in a collision with teammate Erick Aybar on Sunday and will now get some extended rest. Dioner Navarro will take his place on the active roster.
Jerry Crasnick of ESPN.com hears from a source who believes the Rockies are more likely to trade Carlos Gonzalez over the winter as opposed to this week.
We're not so sure about that, as Gonzalez has been red-hot this month. Given his injury history, this could be the perfect time for the Rockies to get aggressive. The 29-year-old is still owed $37 million from 2016-2017.
The Mets have promoted prospect outfielder Brandon Nimmo to Triple-A Las Vegas.
Nimmo, a supplemental first-round pick in 2011, earned the promotion after batting .279/.354/.368 with two home runs and 16 RBI over 302 plate appearances with Double-A Binghamton this season. The 22-year-old has been considered one of the team's top position prospects for a while and now he's just a step away from the majors. It's worth noting that his name has been floated in some trade rumors this week, so that opportunity might not be with the Mets.
Devon Travis will hit leadoff Tuesday against the Phillies.
Travis will get the first crack at taking over the leadoff spot now that Jose Reyes has been traded to the Rockies. He's deserving of the opportunity, as he's hitting .354 with a .400 on-base percentage over 25 games since returning from the disabled list.
Braves purchased the contract of RHP David Carpenter from Triple-A Gwinnett.
Carpenter was designated for assignment by the Braves earlier this month, but he's getting another shot in the bullpen in the wake of the Manny Banuelos injury. The 27-year-old allowed three runs on six hits over 3 2/3 innings during his previous stint with the team.
Wilmer Flores is out of the Mets' lineup again Tuesday.
Flores has now been on the bench for three straight games following the additions of Kelly Johnson and Juan Uribe. With Ruben Tejada as the regular shortstop, he will have to make the best of his opportunities as a bench player. Uribe is starting at third base Tuesday and Daniel Murphy will play second base.
Manny Machado will bat leadoff Tuesday against the Braves.
Machado had hit third in the previous four games. Adam Jones will slide back into the third spot Tuesday while Chris Davis will bat cleanup.
Brock Holt (knee) remains out of the starting lineup Tuesday against the White Sox.
Holt sat out Monday after leaving Sunday's game with a hyperextended knee and he apparently needs at least another day. Jemile Weeks will fill in at second base again Tuesday while Alejandro De Aza will get a shot out of No. 2 spot in the order.
