Steve Gilbert of MLB.com confirms Shelby Miller (elbow) will start Monday against the Marlins.

This was the expected outcome, though Miller's presence in the Diamondbacks' clubhouse on Thursday should make it official. It will be his first big league start in 14 months after undergoing Tommy John surgery last April. The 27-year-old has been up-and-down during his minor league rehab, delivering a mediocre 4.66 ERA over four starts for High-A Visalia and Double-A Jackson. Miller logged 81 pitches in his last outing and should see close to a normal workload on Monday.

Mookie Betts went 3-for-6 and delivered his 19th homer Thursday against the Twins.

Betts has five hits the last two days after totaling five in his first seven games back from the disabled list, so it seems safe to say he's regained his stroke. He has had multiple hits in 24 of his 57 games this year.
Jun 21 - 4:29 PM

Andrew Benintendi went 2-for-6 with a two-run homer versus the Twins on Thursday.

Benintendi is doing it all for fantasy owners of late; he's batting .330 with eight homers, 19 RBI, 21 runs scored and four steals in his last 25 games.

Luis Severino improved to 11-2 after allowing three runs in 5 2/3 innings Thursday against the Mariners.

It was far from Severino's best outing of the year, but it was just good enough in what ended up being a 4-3 game. It's only the fourth time in 16 starts that Severino has allowed as many as three runs and also the fourth time that he failed to complete six innings (he's pitched at least five in every start). The Yankees are 14-2 when he pitches.

Orioles sent DH/INF Pedro Alvarez outright to Triple-A Norfolk.

Alvarez cleared waivers after being designated for assignment earlier this week and is now off the Orioles' 40-man roster. The 31-year-old has slugged eight homers in only 111 big-league at-bats this season, though he's also struggled to a .180 average with 36 strikeouts.
Jun 21 - 4:20 PM

James Paxton lost Thursday after allowing four runs in five innings against the Yankees.

All of the runs came in the first; he gave up a two-run bomb to Aaron Judge and then a two-run Yankee Stadium homer to Miguel Andujar that would have been an out pretty much anywhere else. Paxton bounced back nicely afterwards and ended up striking out nine, but unlike last week against the Red Sox, the Mariners offense failed to bail him out this time. The loss was his first since March 31 against the Indians.
Jun 21 - 4:18 PM

Dodgers released OF Mitchell Hansen.

A second-round pick in 2015, Hansen was hitting just .231 with two homers in 32 games for Low-A Great Lakes. The 22-year-old owns a .256 lifetime average with 25 homers across 953 minor league at-bats.
Jun 21 - 4:17 PM

Aaron Judge hit his first homer in 12 days and walked Thursday against the Mariners.

Judge hit a two-run homer off James Paxton in the first inning. His June hasn't measured up to his first two months, but .254 with four homers and 10 RBI in 18 games isn't all that bad.
