Casey Janssen was diagnosed with right rotator cuff tendinitis after undergoing an MRI.

Janssen reported some discomfort after his most recent Grapefruit League appearance last week, so the Nats decided to get him checked out. It's not a long-term concern, but Nationals manager Matt Williams acknowledged that Opening Day is a question mark.

Drew Storen left Monday's Grapefruit League game due to a blister on his right foot.

That's a sigh of relief for the Nationals, who are dealing with all sorts of bumps and bruises at the moment. Storen, who is expected to serve as Nats' closer this season, should be fine by the time Opening Day rolls around.

Lucas Duda drove in five runs with a homer and a double Monday in the Mets' 7-1 defeat of the Marlins.

Duda started the spring 4-for-31 with one RBI. In his last three games, he's 7-for-11 with two homers and nine RBI. We'd call that a rapid improvement.

Rafael Montero blanked the Marlins for six innings, striking out six, in a win Monday.

No wonder the Mets are thinking about trading Dillon Gee. Montero probably won't be in the rotation if Gee sticks around, but he is the more interesting of the two in NL-only leagues. If Gee does get traded, Montero might even be a mixed-league sleeper.

Anthony Rendon saw Dr. James Andrews on Monday to get a second opinion on his left knee.

Rendon suffered what was termed as a minor MCL sprain in his knee on March 9, but he continues to feel discomfort and went to Andrews to get some answers. The Nationals are still waiting on his diagnosis, but obviously they need to prepare themselves for the possibility that they will be without him for the early part of the season.

Jenrry Mejia gave up a run and two walks in the ninth Monday against the Marlins.

Mejia is getting worse as the spring goes along; he started off with one run allowed and no walks in six innings, but he's given up four runs and four walks in his last two appearances. If his struggles continue into the regular season, he'll leave the door wide open for Bobby Parnell to reclaim closing duties.

Red Sox manager John Farrell indicated Monday that prospect catcher Blake Swihart will begin the season with Triple-A Pawtucket.

In the wake of Christian Vazquez's elbow injury, some speculated that Swihart could be carried on the Opening Day roster, but he has limited experience above Double-A and figures to get at least a little more time in the minors before the Red Sox consider a call-up. Ryan Hanigan should begin the season as the primary catcher while the newly-acquired Sandy Leon and non-roster invitee Humberto Quintero are in the mix for the backup job. However, there's no question that Swihart could arrive sooner than originally anticipated.

Dan Haren was tagged for seven runs in 5 1/3 innings by the Mets on Monday.

This is more like it from Haren; he has a history of lousy springs, but he actually entered today with a 1.93 ERA in four starts. He was effective for five innings in this one, but the Mets jumped all over him in the sixth, scoring five runs in the frame.
