Yankees manager Joe Girardi said Aaron Judge will be back in the lineup on Thursday.

Judge is "a little banged up," per Girardi, and will not start in Wednesday afternoon's series finale against the Reds and right-hander Homer Bailey. It's nothing serious.

Zack Cozart (quad) is out of the Reds' starting lineup Wednesday versus the Yankees.

Cozart aggravated his lingering left quad injury while running the bases on Tuesday night and could be looking at another extended absence. Jose Peraza will start at shortstop and bat ninth for the Reds on Wednesday afternoon at Yankee Stadium.

Aaron Judge is absent from the Yankees' starting lineup on Wednesday afternoon.

It's a routine breather for the young slugger. Clint Frazier will start in right field and bat second Wednesday versus Reds right-hander Homer Bailey.

Chris Davis (illness) is back in the Orioles' starting lineup Wednesday afternoon against the Rays.

Davis missed two games with a nasty stomach bug. The veteran slugger will start at first base and bat cleanup Wednesday versus Rays right-hander Alex Cobb.

USA Today's Bob Nightengale reports that the Royals are in talks with the Blue Jays about a trade for Francisco Liriano.

Liriano owns an ugly 5.99 ERA, 1.67 WHIP, and 70/42 K/BB ratio through 76 2/3 innings (17 starts) this season with Toronto, but the Royals don't have the kind of high-level prospects necessary to pursue big-ticket arms -- especially after acquiring Trevor Cahill, Brandon Maurer, and Ryan Buchter on Monday from the Padres. Liriano, 33, is owed around $4.5 million in the final year of a three-year, $39 million deal.

Dilson Herrera underwent surgery to remove bone spurs from his right shoulder.

That'll be a wrap for his 2017 season. Herrera didn't make a single appearance in the majors this year and he registered an underwhelming .264/.312/.397 batting line over 68 games for Triple-A Louisville. The former top-100 prospect will try to get his career back on track in 2018.

Rays recalled RHP Andrew Kittredge from Triple-A Durham.

Kittredge has allowed five hits, one walk, and one earned run in 2 1/3 innings of relief this season at the major league level. He'll operate in a low-leverage role.

Rays placed RHP Jake Odorizzi on the 10-day disabled list with a lower back strain.

It's not clear who will fill his spot in the rotation Friday night at Yankee Stadium. Odorizzi failed to make it out of the fifth inning in his last start Sunday versus the Rangers and holds a disappointing 4.47 ERA over 94 2/3 total innings this year. He told reporters Wednesday that his back has been bothering him since spring training and is preventing him from properly finishing his pitches.
