The Red Sox will consider adding Blake Swihart as a third catcher when rosters expand in September.

To prepare, he'll begin catching 2-3 games a week for Triple-A Pawtucket. Swihart has played all over the diamond the past two years, seeing time at first base and left field in addition to catcher. He'll give the Red Sox some depth behind Sandy Leon and Christian Vazquez.

Jake Diekman (colon) will make a rehab appearance for Triple-A Round Rock on Thursday.

His outing will be capped at 15 pitches. Diekman has yet to pitch in the majors this year after undergoing surgery to rebuild his colon. The hard-throwing 30-year-old will serve as a left-handed specialist when healthy.

David Price (elbow) didn't throw on Wednesday following a minor setback on Tuesday.

Price said he didn't feel quite as good Tuesday as he did this past weekend when he threw in New York. It doesn't sound overly serious, though Price went for treatment on Wednesday and will wait for the green light to resume throwing. Doug Fister has been filling his spot in the starting rotation.

Keon Broxton hit two solo homers Wednesday in the Brewers' 7-6 comeback win over the Pirates.

The first solo shot got Milwaukee on the board in the bottom of the third inning and the second tied the game at 5-5. Broxton also homered as a pinch-hitter on Tuesday night and the 27-year-old outfielder now has 19 total homers in 107 games this season. He has also racked up 19 stolen bases.

Manny Pina slugged a go-ahead homer in the bottom of the eighth inning Wednesday as the Brewers topped the Pirates.

It was one of five Milwaukee homers in the 7-6 afternoon victory at Miller Park. Pina finished 2-for-4 and is batting .290/.333/.457 in 82 games this season, but he will probably lose some playing time when Stephen Vogt (knee) returns this weekend.

Josh Bell went 3-for-4 with two RBI and one run scored in the Pirates' loss to the Brewers on Wednesday.

Bell opened the game's scoring with an RBI single off Brewers starter Jimmy Nelson in the top of the first inning and then he hit another RBI single in the Bucs' three-run third inning. He also hit a leadoff triple in the top of the eighth and scored on an RBI single by Adam Frazier. Bell, 25, is batting .260/.336/.490 with six triples, 21 doubles, 20 home runs, 65 RBI, and 59 runs scored in 118 games this season.

Jimmy Nelson yielded five runs -- three earned -- over 6 1/3 innings Wednesday in a no-decision against the Pirates.

Milwaukee eventually won the game 7-6, with the victory going to setup man Anthony Swarzak. Nelson struck out seven batters and issued only one walk, but the Pirates tallied eight hits against him and the right-hander committed an error on a pickoff throw in the top of the first inning which led to Pittsburgh's first run. Nelson is 9-6 with a 3.74 ERA, 1.26 WHIP, and 169/38 K/BB ratio in 151 2/3 innings. Up next is a road start against the last-place Giants.
