Hanley Ramirez is day-to-day with a sore left knee.

Ramirez was hit by a pitch Sunday and that's the reason he was scratched from Monday's lineup. He should be back in there in a day or two.

Nationals signed RHP Francisco Rodriguez to a minor league contract.

Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports first reported the Nats' pursuit of K-Rod earlier Monday and now says that the deal has been finalized. The former closer will go to the minors league for now but should be added to the big league bullpen. Rodriguez was released by the Tigers last week after posting an ugly 7.82 ERA over 28 appearances, but Washington is willing to give him a shot given their bullpen issues.

Hanley Ramirez was scratched from the Red Sox' lineup Monday.

There's no word yet on the reason for the scratch, but Ramirez has had ongoing shoulder issues. Chris Young has replaced him in the lineup.

Nationals manager Dusty Baker said Jayson Werth (foot) took a few swings Sunday.

Werth was unable to put all of his weight on his injured left foot just a couple of days ago, but he's slowly making progress. The veteran outfielder could soon travel to West Palm Beach to ramp up baseball activities. Baker is hopeful that Werth will be back after the All-Star break.

Henry Owens has been demoted from Triple-A Pawtucket to Double-A Portland.

Ouch. Owens has posted a decent 3.91 ERA over 14 starts in Triple-A this year, but he has walked 60 batters in just 69 innings. That's obviously not going to work. The 24-year-old will try to improve against lesser competition.
Jun 26 - 3:58 PM

Addison Russell (shoulder) is not in Monday's lineup.

Russell exited Sunday's game with right shoulder discomfort, but it's unclear how much time he'll need to miss. Javy Baez will make the start at shortstop.
Jun 26 - 3:52 PM

Kris Bryant will start in left field Monday against the Nationals.

Bryant made the start in right field on Sunday, but he'll move to the other corner with Mike Zagunis getting a start. Jeimer Candelario has been called up from Triple-A and will handle third base duties.
Jun 26 - 3:50 PM

Nomar Mazara (forearm) has returned to the Rangers' starting lineup Monday versus the Indians.

Mazara sat out Saturday and Sunday with a bruised right forearm from being hit by a pitch from Aroldis Chapman, but fortunately it's not a long-term issue. He'll bat third in his return.
