Devin Mesoraco (hip) suffered a setback in his recovery when he experienced continued pain while attempting to squat on Friday.

With this setback, he's unable to serve as the team's designated hitter over the weekend in Cleveland, but could still be available as a pinch hitter. It still looks as though the Reds will let him fight through the injury and avoid a trip to the disabled list.

It doesn't appear to be anything more than a routine day of rest for the veteran outfielder. Darrell Cecilani will start in his place in left field and hit seventh for the Mets.
May 23 - 12:41 PM

Michael Brantley is not in the Indians starting lineup for Saturday's game against the Reds.

It's nothing more than a routine day of rest for the All-Star outfielder. Brantley is enjoying another terrific season for the Indians, slashing .319/.397/.511 with four homers and 26 RBI in 35 games. He'll be back in there on Sunday.
May 23 - 12:39 PM

Stephen Vogt is not in the Athletics starting lineup for Saturday's contest against the Rays.

It's nothing more than a routine day of rest for Vogt, being an afternoon game after a night game. Josh Phegley is drawing the start behind the plate and batting sixth for the Athletics on Saturday.
May 23 - 12:00 PM

Brett Lawrie is not in the Athletics starting lineup on Saturday.

Max Muncy is getting the call at the hot corner and batting fifth in the A's lineup against opposing right-hander Nathan Karns. Lawrie should be back in there for Sunday's series finale. The 25-year-old is hitting .279/.310/.364 with two homers and 16 RBI in 43 games.
May 23 - 11:58 AM

Marlon Byrd is not in the Reds starting lineup on Saturday.
