Tyler Danish earned his first major league win by tossing five shutout innings against the Tigers on Saturday.

He was called up from Triple-A to start the first game of Saturday's doubleheader. He showed some jitters by walking three batters in the first inning but escaped with the help of a double play. Danish showed a very low strikeout rate in the minors yet was able to punch out six batters today. He gave up just three hits and issued six free passes. He pitched three games in relief for the White Sox last year in his first brief cup of coffee in the major leagues. It is not clear if Danish will be sent back down to Triple-A Charlotte or if he will take over the injured Dylan Covey's slot in the rotation.

Todd Frazier is not in the lineup for the second game of Saturday's doubleheader against the Tigers.

Frazier went 0-for-4 in Saturday's opener, dropping his season average to a dismal .184. Matt Davidson will man third base and bat fifth Saturday night against Tigers starter Buck Farmer.

Matt Carpenter is not in the Cardinals' lineup Saturday against the Rockies.

Leury Garcia laced a run-scoring triple against the Tigers in the first game of a doubleheader on Saturday.

His three-bagger in the eight inning plated pinch-runner Adam Engel from first base. Garcia then scored on a single by Jose Abreu. The switch-hitter started the season manning the ninth spot in the batting order for the White Sox, but has slowly worked his way to the top of the order by hitting .285/.336/.482 with six homers, 22 runs, 17 RBI and four stolen bases in 41 games.

Andrew Romine went 2-for-4 and worked a walk during the first game of Saturday's doubleheader versus the White Sox.

His two singles represented half the hits his club could manage in the ballgame, so it is no surprise they failed to score. The veteran utility man has played every position except pitcher and catcher for the Tigers this year. He has a .228 batting average with two home runs, 18 runs scored and 11 RBI in 129 plate appearances.

Hisashi Iwakuma (shoulder) threw a bullpen session on Saturday.

It was his first time throwing off a mound since landing on the DL earlier this month. Iwakuma didn't seem too happy with his results on Saturday, claiming it "wasn't the best bullpen." When asked how his shoulder felt, Iwakuma said, "I feel OK. I would like to move forward. Hopefully it will get better." Obviously Iwakuma is in the very early stages of his recovery and still has a long way to go. There's no timetable for his return.

Michael Fulmer allowed three runs in an eight-inning, complete game loss to the White Sox in the first game of Saturday's doubleheader.

He surrendered nine base hits and one walk while striking out four batters in the contest. The first run scored on a double-play grounder in the fifth inning. He allowed two more in his eighth and final frame. His record falls to 5-3 with an elite 2.65 ERA in 10 starts. The 24-year-old continues to show the form he displayed while taking home the American League Rookie of the Year award last season.

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said Justin Turner (hamstring) will need a minor league rehab assignment before he's activated from the disabled list.

That's likely to happen sometime next week. If all goes well, Turner could be back with the Dodgers by the end of their seven-game road trip which begins on Monday. Turner was hitting a league-leading .379 before landing on the DL with a strained hamstring.
