Mariners manager Scott Servais said Hisashi Iwakuma (shoulder) looked only "OK" in his bullpen session Monday.

"He’ll probably throw another bullpen," Servais told reporters after the workout. "We’re running out of time. Guys have to be able to ramp it up pretty quickly to have any chance to make an impact for us down the stretch." Iwakuma has been out since early May and there is no timetable for him to embark on a minor league rehab assignment.

Austin Slater (hip) expects to begin playing in rehab games in 10-14 days.

Most of the Giants' minor league affiliates will have concluded their seasons by then, but that's not a major issue as the organization figures to play things cautiously with the 24-year-old outfielder. He can play in simulated games in Arizona if need be. There's no guarantee Slater will return to San Francisco in 2017.

Johnny Cueto (forearm) is expected to go three innings Tuesday night at Triple-A Sacramento.

Cueto was supposed to resume his minor league rehab assignment on Monday, but he came down with a minor illness so the Giants pushed him back one day. Cueto will probably need to stretch out to six innings in the minors before the out-of-contention Giants activate him off the disabled list. He's been out since mid-July.

Keone Kela (shoulder) remains shut down from throwing.

Kela has been bothered by shoulder discomfort since late June and he landed back on the disabled list August 8, retroactive to August 5, after yet another flareup. It's beginning to look like he might not return this season.

Giancarlo Stanton clubbed his 46th home run of the season as the Marlins defeated the Phillies 12-8 in the first half of Monday's split doubleheader.

Stanton roped an RBI double in the top of the fifth inning to put Miami up 3-2 and then contributed a solo blast to the Marlins' six-run outburst in the top of the seventh. He finished the early game 2-for-5 and will bat second for the Fish in the nightcap.
Aug 22 - 7:34 PM

Marcell Ozuna went 2-for-4 with a homer, two RBI, a walk, and two runs scored as the Marlins beat the Phillies in the first half of Tuesday's doubleheader.

Ozuna contributed a two-run blast to the Marlins' six-run seventh inning before scoring on J.T. Realmuto's three-run bomb in the top of the ninth. There were a total of nine home runs in the early game at Citizens Bank Park. Ozuna is up to 28 dingers and 95 RBI.

Dan Straily struck out 10 batters over six innings Tuesday in a win over the Phillies.

Straily gave up three runs -- including two in the bottom of the first on a Rhys Hoskins homer -- but it was a nice overall outing from the 28-year-old right-hander. Philly managed just two hits and two walks against him. Straily is now 8-8 on the season with a 3.83 ERA, 1.16 WHIP, and 133/41 K/BB ratio in 145 2/3 innings. He'll face the Padres at home next.
Aug 22 - 7:26 PM

Rhys Hoskins slugged his sixth major league homer in the Phillies' loss to the Marlins on Tuesday evening.

Hoskins went yard for a two-run shot in the bottom of the first inning against Marlins starter Dan Straily before finishing the game 1-for-4. The 24-year-old has shown tremendous power since earning his first promotion to the majors on August 10 and he's looking like a real waiver-wire gem for the stretch run.
