Angels reassigned LHP Adam Wilk and RHP Cam Bedrosian to minor league camp.
Neither was a real threat to crack the Angels bullpen on Opening Day. They'll function as organizational depth at the Triple-A level and each should get a chance with the Halos at some point during the 2015 season.
Angels released RHP Matt Lindstrom.
He had an opt-out clause in his contract if he wasn't on the Opening Day roster, so the move doesn't come as a huge surprise. The 35-year-old struggled in Cactus League play, posting a 11.12 ERA, 2.30 WHIP and 5/4 K/BB ratio in 5 2/3 innings.
Justin Verlander indicated that his triceps soreness was the same on Saturday as it was on Friday.
The Tigers have yet to schedule an MRI, so they believe the issue is relatively minor and shouldn't impact his availability for the start of the regular season. They'll wait and see how he feels in a day or two before deciding when he'll throw next, but are optimistic that he'll make his scheduled start on Thursday.
Nate Freiman (back) is starting to feel better after undergoing aggressive treatment on his back strain.
He still hasn't been cleared for baseball activity. With Mark Canha expected to make the Opening Day roster, Freiman may have been squeezed out of a roster spot regardless. He isn't expected to return until mid-April.
Red Sox manager John Farrell said Saturday that Koji Uehara (hamstring) has not been ruled out for Opening Day.
"He's a one-inning reliever, a veteran guy", Farrell said Saturday, indicating that he doesn't need much in-game preparation to get ready for the regular season. In the event that Uehara is unable to go, Edward Mujica is the favorite to see early save chances for the Red Sox.
Twins pitching prospect Lewis Thorpe will undergo Tommy John surgery to repair a torn ulnar collateral ligament.
The surgery date has yet to be determined, but it's a tough blow for the 19-year-old hurler. He will miss the entire 2015 season and could be sidelined for the start of 2016 as well.
Tsuyoshi Wada (leg) is scheduled to throw a simulated game on Saturday.
Wada has been dealing with a sore left groin that forced him to leave Saturday's start. He has appeared in just two Cactus League contests thus far, posting a 5.40 ERA and 1.80 WHIP in 1 2/3 innings of work. He appears to be on the outside looking in for the final spot in the Cubs rotation.
Rays placed RHP Alex Colome on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to March 27, with pneumonia.
The 26-year-old hurler spent five days in the hospital earlier in the month while battling the illness and is still working to regain his full strength. He's expected to be ready to join the Rays in mid-April.
