Tommy Milone was tagged for seven runs in just 3 1/3 innings Friday against the Reds.

Milone gave up nine hits (including a leadoff homer to Zack Cozart) and walked a pair. The southpaw owns a 7.50 ERA this spring, so he’s not exactly making the best case for a rotation spot. The Brewers piggybacked things for this game, so Chase Anderson followed and gave up three runs over 4 1/3 innings. Anderson has been respectable this spring, putting up a 3.77 ERA over three starts and two relief appearances, but there might not be room for him in the rotation either.

Zack Cozart went 3-for-4 with a solo homer Friday against the Brewers.

He also doubled and singled in the game. Cozart has been mentioned as a possible trade target for the Yankees with Didi Gregorius expected to miss the first month of the season due to a shoulder injury. Even if he doesn’t end up in New York, trade speculation should continue to follow him in his walk year. The 31-year-old hit .252 with 16 homers and a .732 OPS (92 OPS+) last season.

Jesus Aguilar continued his red-hot spring on Friday by going 4-for-4 with three runs scored against the Reds.

All four hits were singles. Claimed off waivers from the Indians over the winter, the 26-year-old Aguilar has had a ridiculous spring, hitting .500 (23-for-46) with five home runs and a 1.457 OPS over 19 games. The Brewers signed Eric Thames to be their starting first baseman, but it’s no sure that that his KBO success will translate. Aguilar is poised to win a spot on Milwaukee’s bench, but there could be the opportunity for more.

Tanner Scheppers is set to undergo an MRI after leaving Friday's Cactus League appearance due to pain in his "lower core".

While the severity of the injury is not yet known, there's a strong likelihood that the right-hander will begin the 2017 season on the disabled list. Expect the Rangers to provide an update on his status on Saturday after learning the results of the MRI.

Manny Pina slugged a two-run homer and scored two runs against the Reds on Friday.

Pina was told Wednesday that he made the Opening Day roster, but the push continues. The 29-year-old has hit four homers in his last five games and leads the Brewers with 13 RBI this spring while hitting .419 (18-for-43) over 17 games. With Andrew Susac (neck, back) expected to begin the year on the disabled list, Pina and Jett Bandy will share catching duties for Milwaukee. While Pina has been a nice story this spring, we wouldn’t recommend chasing after him in fantasy leagues.

Padres manager Andy Green said Friday that Luis Sardinas is now competing for a utility role on the club's Opening Day roster.

He entered spring training as the likely starting shortstop, but has been surpassed by veteran Erick Aybar. He entered Friday's game as a defensive replacement in the outfield where he'll continue to flash his versatility over the final week-plus of spring play.

Erick Aybar is expected to be named as the Padres' starting shortstop.

Padres' manager Andy Green said Friday that his primary competition for the position, Luis Sardinas, is now attempting to make the club in a utility role. He also heaped praise on Aybar, ""Erick has been outstanding, in my opinion.. He’s got some leadership qualities that we don’t necessarily have in the position-player corps, nice attributes to add to the team." Despite his poor 2016 campaign this will give Aybar fantasy value in NL-only formats and deep mixed leagues.

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said Friday that Josh Ravin aggravated his right groin strain and will be sidelined for the next several weeks.

Ravin had hoped to return to the mound on Sunday. He had been a candidate to win one of the final spots in the club's Opening Day bullpen, but instead he'll now open the year on the 10-day disabled list.
