Alcides Escobar went 2-for-3 with his first home run of the season in Sunday's loss to the Twins.

The two-run shot came off Twins starter Phil Hughes. Escobar also doubled and scored in the game, and he's got his average up to .298 with a slew of multi-hit games recently. Sunday was his fifth multi-hit effort in his last eight starts.

Troy Patton will begin a minor league rehab assignment with Triple-A Norfolk on Tuesday.

The veteran reliever was suspended for the first 25 games of the regular season after testing positive for Adderall. He saw very little work in spring training, and will round himself into shape at the Triple-A level before returning to the O's bullpen.

Manny Machado (knee) reported nothing but normal soreness on Sunday and is expected to continue his rehab with seven innings in an extended spring game on Monday.

He'll then serve as the DH on Tuesday before possibly progressing to a minor league rehab assignment. He remains on track to rejoin the Orioles at some point in early May.

Brian Dozier went 3-for-6 with a run scored in Sunday's win over the Royals.

Dozier's .219 batting average isn't anything to write home about, but he's done an awfully nice job setting the table for the Twins thus far this year. The second baseman is first in the American League with 19 runs scored, and he's now got a .341 on-base percentage through 18 games.
Apr 20 - 5:42 PM

Josmil Pinto went 1-for-3 with a home run and two runs scored against the Royals on Sunday.

The homer was Pinto's fourth of the year. The catcher also walked twice to give him a 13/13 K/BB ratio and .411 on-base percentage for the season. His average may not be an asset, but everyday at-bats and his pop make him a passable option in deep leagues.

Yordano Ventura allowed four runs on six hits over four innings Sunday, taking the loss against the Twins.

After allowing two runs without recording an out, Ventura seemed to find his legs in getting through the next two innings without harm. An eventful fourth inning included a throwing error and a wild pitch leading to a run, and another run in the fifth inning led Royals manager Ned Yost to decide he'd seen enough. Walks were an issue, as he handed out four free passes, but he also struck out six. Ventura will look to exhibit more control Friday at the Orioles.
Apr 20 - 5:40 PM

Phil Hughes picked up a quality start against the Royals on Sunday, allowing three runs over six innings for his first Twins victory.

Hughes wasn't perfect, giving up nine hits and a walk in his time, but his offense gave him more than enough support to pick up his first win of the season. The numbers still aren't pretty for the right-hander, as he now has a 6.43 ERA and 1.67 WHIP through four starts. His next will come Saturday against the Tigers.
Apr 20 - 5:39 PM

Billy Butler is expected to move back to the cleanup spot in the Royals lineup on Monday.

While Butler has struggled to the tune of .213/.286/.230 on the season, he does have three hits in seven at-bats since being demoted in the lineup, so the shakeup appears to have done some good. Salvador Perez has gone hitless in two games since the switch though and doesn't look comfortable in the fourth slot, which could be the reason for the switch back.
