Mark Teixeira (knee) is expected to return to the Yankees lineup on Wednesday.

The veteran slugger was hit by a pitch on his right knee during Friday's Grapefruit League contest, but the club believes it's only a minor issue. He should be fine after resting for a couple of days.

Travis Snider hit his first spring homer Sunday off the Twins' Ricky Nolasco.

Snider hadn't only been without a homer, but he hadn't even driven in a run in 39 at-bats while hitting .256/.310/.282 this spring. He's something of a mixed-league sleeper this year because of the inviting right-field porch in Baltimore, but he's disappointed before.
Mar 29 - 5:18 PM

Michael Taylor went 3-for-3 with a homer, a double and a walk as the Nationals topped the Marlins 11-7 on Sunday.

Taylor is sure to start with Denard Span set to miss the month of April. The question is whether he'll bad leadoff, and he surely helped his case today, even if his homer was wind-aided. His spring average is back up to .340, and after racking up 11 strikeouts in his first nine games, he's fanned just once in his last seven.
Mar 29 - 5:12 PM

Doug Fister gave up six runs in four innings Sunday in a no-decision versus the Marlins.

Fister started off nicely enough this spring, but he's allowed 10 runs and five homers in his last two starts. The wind was definitely a major factor in his poor showing today, so we won't make too much of it.
Mar 29 - 5:08 PM

Tom Koehler was roughed up by the Nationals on Sunday, surrendering six runs and 10 hits in four innings.

The wind was a factor today, with Koehler giving up three of the game's seven homers. He hadn't previously allowed a single homer in 14 innings. Though Koehler's spring ERA is up to 7.00, he shouldn't be in any danger of being bumped from the rotation. Depending on whether the Marlins stay healthy, that could change once Josh Fernandez is ready to return from Tommy John.
Mar 29 - 5:05 PM

Bryce Harper went 2-for-3 with a homer and a walk Saturday against the Marlins.

Harper has homered in both games since missing Thursday's contest with a stomach virus. Aided by his 12 walks, he's sporting a fine .278/.458/.556 line in 36 at-bats for the spring.
Mar 29 - 5:03 PM

Chase Headley went 3-for-4 with a homer, a double and three RBI to lead the Yankees to a 7-0 win over the Astros on Sunday.

Headley hit second today, which is something he's done frequently with Jacoby Ellsbury out. Before Ellsbury was hurt, the plan was to bat Headley sixth or seventh this season. We think he makes quite a bit more sense at the top of the order, in part because he can help break up the lefties, but he'll probably still bat lower if Ellsbury returns for the opener as planned.
Mar 29 - 4:52 PM

Nathan Eovaldi fanned five in 4 2/3 scoreless innings Sunday against the Astros.

Eovaldi had been doing his work in minor league games, so this was his first start in 14 days. He's certainly pitched well in his spring appearances, allowing one run over 13 2/3 innings and posting a 14/0 K/BB ratio. We certainly liked his fantasy potential better than Miami than in New York, but the Yankees aren't going to regret trading Martin Prado for him.
