Tigers optioned RHP Johnny Barbato to Triple-A Toledo.

Barbato allowed five runs on three hits and a pair of walks in just 1/3 of an inning against the Indians on Friday, which couldn't have helped his cause. He'll continue to function as bullpen depth at Triple-A.

Yonder Alonso blasted a grand slam on Friday, helping to propel the Indians to a 10-0 victory over the Tigers.

His towering blast came off of Johnny Barbato in the seventh inning, increasing the Indians' lead to 9-0. He also singled in the ballgame, finishing the night 2-for-4. The 31-year-old is finally starting to show signs of life at the plate and is now hitting .255/.327/.456 with 12 homers and 43 RBI.

Edwin Encarnacion went 2-for-5 with a homer and three RBI as the Indians demolished the Tigers on Friday.

Encarnacion tagged Tigers' starter Mike Fiers for a two-run blast in the third inning, increasing the Tribe's early lead to 3-0. He also tacked on an RBI single in the seventh. With the two-hit night, the veteran slugger is now hitting .233/.307/.470 with 17 long balls and 47 RBI.

Francisco Lindor clubbed his 17th home run of the season as the Indians crushed the Tigers on Friday.

Lindor opened the scoring in the contest with a solo shot off of Mike Fiers in the third inning. He also drew a walk, finishing the night 1-for-3 with a pair of runs scored. The 24-year-old continues to excel in every facet of the game, slashing .288/.367/.533 with 17 homers, 41 RBI and 10 stolen bases on the year.

Shane Bieber was dominant in Friday's victory over the Tigers, racking up a career-high nine strikeouts over seven shutout innings.

Bieber allowed just four hits and one walk over his seven brilliant frames. Through his first three starts, he now boasts a 2.45 ERA, 1.36 WHIP and 22/3 K/BB ratio over 18 1/3 innings. It's probably time to start taking him seriously from a mixed league perspective. He'll do battle against the Cardinals his next time out in St. Louis on Wednesday.

Jeimer Candelario went 0-for-4 with a strikeout as the Tigers were shut out by the Indians on Friday night in Cleveland.

As a team, the Tigers totaled just five hits in this one, so Candelario wasn't the only culprit. He has slumped considerably as of late, seeing his average fall from .291 on May 1 down to .248.

Wade LeBlanc was tagged for a season-high six runs over 4 2/3 innings Friday against the Red Sox.

LeBlanc blanked the Red Sox over 7 2/3 innings in his last start, but he wasn’t fooling anyone this time. The southpaw surrendered a season-high 11 hits. Most of the damage came in the first inning, as the Red Sox responded to the Mariners’ four-run opening frame with five runs of their own. LeBlanc has been a pleasant surprise for the Mariners — he still owns a 3.26 ERA after Friday’s outing — but it has always felt like a matter of time before there would be a dose of reality here for fantasy owners.
Jun 22 - 11:49 PM

Mike Fiers was knocked around in Friday's loss to the Indians, giving up four runs on four hits over his five innings.

Fiers fanned four and walked three in the ballgame. It was the long ball that did him in this time, as Francisco Lindor crushed a solo homer in the third inning and Edwin Encarnacion tagged him for a two-run shot in the fourth. The 33-year-old hurler will carry a 4.29 ERA and 1.33 WHIP into Wednesday's start against the Athletics.
