Lions waived RB George Winn.
Winn got a little run with Joique Bell out during the preseason, carrying the rock 17 times for 69 yards. He had little chance of beating out SPARQ legend Zach Zenner for the No. 4 spot. Detroit's Week 1 backfield will feature Bell, Ameer Abdullah, Zenner and passing-down back Theo Riddick.
Lions waived DE Larry Webster, DE Jerel Worthy, DL Kerry Hyder, S Brian Suite and S Isaiah Johnson.
A 2014 fourth-rounder, Webster was talked up in the offseason, but didn't show any improvement once the Lions put the pads on in August. The leap from FCS Bloomsburg proved too big to make. Webster will presumably be sheltered on the practice squad, but he's never going to make an impact in Detroit.
Titans released G/T Byron Stingily.
Stingily has been with the Titans since 2011, but never progressed past deep reserve status. He could be brought back if/when the Titans need a lineman.
Patriots released CB Robert McClain.
McClain started at slot corner in the first preseason game but lost his job to Tarell Brown. McClain struggled in Atlanta last season, but has put some good things on tape in his career. He should get another shot.
Lions released TE Joseph Fauria.
Fauria collected seven touchdowns as a rookie but disappeared during his sophomore campaign in 2014 (six catches for 74 yards). His roster spot was in jeopardy as soon as the Lions traded for Tim Wright at the end of August. Fauria caught three passes for 24 yards during the preseason.
Eagles waived CB Jaylen Watkins.
The Eagles were trying to trade the 2014 fourth-rounder out of Florida but could not find any takers. Watkins struggled as a slot corner this preseason, but his draft pedigree will earn him another shot.
Giants waived/injured WR Corey Washington.
Initial reports had Washington as merely waived. He missed the preseason finale with a shoulder injury. He'll revert to injured reserve if he clears waivers. Washington stuck with the Giants in 2014 after turning in a mammoth preseason, but couldn't match the feat this summer, catching just three passes for 25 yards in three games. Washington still has some upside, but there's no real reason to keep him around in Dynasty leagues.
Lions waived QB Kellen Moore.
Moore has been with the Lions since signing as an undrafted free agent in 2012. He had a solid summer, but was never going to overcome his physical limitations. Moore is undersized, and lacks arm strength. Dan Orlovsky is Matthew Stafford's backup.
