Giants placed RHP Tim Hudson on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to June 27, with a right shoulder strain.

Originally the thought was that Hudson would go on the DL because of his surgically-repaired right ankle that's still not quite healed yet. It appears, though, that he's also nursing a shoulder issue. It's unclear at this time how long he'll be sidelined.
Jul 3 - 1:56 PM

Giants activated RHP Jake Peavy from the 15-day disabled list.

Peavy will rejoin the rotation on Friday in Washington. The veteran right-hander has been on the shelf since mid-April with back issues and should probably be avoided for fantasy purposes for the time being.
Jul 3 - 1:53 PM

Giants purchased the contract of 1B/OF Ryan Lollis from Triple-A Sacramento.

Lollis, 28, has hit .358/.431/.500 with three homers and seven steals across three levels in the minors this season. He'll be making his major league debut when he gets into a game.
Jul 3 - 1:45 PM

Giants designated 1B/OF Travis Ishikawa for assignment.

It's the second time since late May that he's been removed from the 40-man roster. Ishikawa, who is hitless in just six at-bats for the Giants this season, will likely declare free agency if he clears waivers and is outrighted.
Jul 3 - 1:42 PM

Marcell Ozuna is not in the Marlins' lineup Friday.

It looks to simply be a routine day off. Cole Gillespie is in center field in Ozuna's place.
Jul 3 - 1:40 PM

Jarrod Parker (elbow) will be out of his sling and begin strengthening exercises in a week.

It's a nice step in what will be a long road back. Parker is not expected back this season after having surgery in May to stabilize the medial epicondyle fracture in his right elbow.
Jul 3 - 1:31 PM

Pat Venditte (shoulder) could resume throwing off a mound by the All-Star break.

Venditte extended his catch to 90 feet on Wednesday, making 40 throws with each arm (it's his right shoulder that caused a disabled list stint). He should be ready to return by the end of July if all goes well.
Jul 3 - 1:29 PM

Sonny Gray (illness) could be placed on the disabled list.

Gray has been released from the hospital after a nasty bout with salmonella, but he only resumed eating solid food on Thursday and is still weak. A backdated DL move would leave Gray eligible to return as soon as July 11, just before the All-Star break. Chris Bassitt will fill in for Gray again on Sunday.
