Blake Bortles completed just 14-of-33 passes for 117 yards, zero touchdowns, and zero interceptions in the Jaguars' 23-17, Week 17 loss to the Texans.

Dec 28 - 4:11 PM

Martellus Bennett secured 8-of-11 targets for 59 yards in the Bears' Week 17 loss to the Vikings.

In a breakout second season under Marc Trestman, Bennett set career highs in receptions (90), yards (916), and touchdowns (6). Bennett is 27 years old with a secure future in Chicago. His 2015 base salary is a reasonable $4.9 million. Bennett will return as a mid-range to low-end TE1 in fantasy leagues next season. It's worth noting that his 2014 production was a bit puffed up by injuries to Brandon Marshall and Alshon Jeffery over the course of the season, leading to more targets than ever for "Black Unicorn."
Dec 28 - 4:11 PM

Brian Tyms caught 4-of-6 targets for 39 yards Week 17 against the Bills.

Tyms had three early catches from Tom Brady in the first quarter, but was completely shut down by the Bills secondary after that. After lighting up the preseason, Tyms finished the regular season with just five catches for 82 yards.
Dec 28 - 4:10 PM

Brandon LaFell caught 4-of-6 targets for 70 yards Week 17 against the Patriots.

LaFell appeared to tweak his ankle late in the fourth quarter, but he jogged it off on the sideline and eventually reentered the game. LaFell was the only member of the Patriots' passing game to play the full game, perhaps because he was chasing his first 1,000-yard season of his career. He fell just short, but still put together a career-best 74/953/7 line in his first season in New England.
Dec 28 - 4:07 PM

Jay Cutler completed 23-of-36 passes for 172 yards and 39 rushing yards in the Bears' Week 17 loss to Minnesota.

And so ends arguably the most disappointing year of Cutler's career, one that saw him benched for Jimmy Clausen late in the season. Cutler "regained" his starting job for Week 17 only because Clausen suffered a Week 16 concussion. Cutler was solid in fantasy -- his TD-to-INT ratio was 28:18 with a completion rate of 66.0 -- but his on-field performance left much to be desired, failing to properly execute Marc Trestman's offense and racking up a ton of production in garbage time. Cutler's 2015 base salary is $15.5 million, all of which is guaranteed. Although there has already been much speculation regarding Cutler's next-season whereabouts, no decisions will be made until the Bears decide on a new corps of decision makers. Ultimately, we suspect Cutler will stay in Chicago because he is very difficult to trade, and would create far too big a cap hit to release.

Trent Richardson rushed six times for 11 yards and caught one pass for nine yards in Sunday's Week 17 win at Tennessee.

Richardson's regular season ends with him sharing snaps with Zurlon Tipton in garbage time of a meaningless game. It's fitting for an inept player that rushed 159 times for 519 yards (3.26 YPC) with three touchdowns. If the Colts know what's good for them, they'll feature Dan Herron with at least 75 percent of the running back snaps in the Wild Card round.
Dec 28 - 4:04 PM

Shane Vereen rushed twice for one yard and caught three passes for 14 yards Week 17 against the Bills.

Vereen was very limited in the meaningless season finale. He did not see much of the field in the first half, and did not have a touch or target after halftime. Vereen was dealing with an ankle injury heading into the game, but his lack of involvement had more to do with the nature of the game. He will be good to go when the Patriots open the playoffs in two weeks.
Dec 28 - 4:02 PM

Teddy Bridgewater completed 17-of-25 throws for 209 yards, one touchdown, and one interception in the Vikings' Week 17 win over the Bears, adding 18 yards rushing.

He also had a long first-quarter touchdown pass to Greg Jennings called back. Bridgewater closes out his promising rookie campaign with a touchdown pass in ten straight games. His TD-to-INT ratio over the final six weeks was 10:6. Bridgewater does not have a cannon arm and is small from a size standpoint, but he is a cool, composed pocket passer with sneaky athleticism and pretty consistent accuracy. It's fair to wonder what Bridgewater's long-term ceiling is for fantasy football, but he showed an ability to pick apart defenses at the short and intermediate levels down the stretch of his rookie year. He was in full command over the final month and a half, outplaying the rest of the 2014 quarterback class. Bridgewater will likely be a top 15-18 quarterback in 2015 re-draft leagues. Dynasty owners should be excited.
