Ian Kennedy allowed two earned runs over six innings Saturday in a loss to the Dodgers.

Joc Pederson slugged a solo shot off Kennedy in the bottom of the first and then Justin Turner smacked an RBI double in the bottom of the sixth. Kennedy was otherwise sharp, yielding only six total hits and zero walks while striking out six Los Angeles hitters. Kennedy will carry a 2-4 record, 6.11 ERA, and 1.39 WHIP into his next start at home against the Pirates. He's been very inconsistent this year.

Joc Pederson slugged his 12th home run of the season Saturday in the Dodgers' defeat of the Padres.

It was a first-inning solo shot off Padres starter Ian Kennedy. Pederson, 23, boasts a .943 OPS through 42 games this season and he's on pace for 46 homers and 100 runs scored. Just give him the NL Rookie of the Year Award.

Martin Prado's RBI single with two outs and the bases loaded in the bottom of the 13th inning made 1-0 winners out of the Marlins in Saturday's contest against the Orioles.

Had Prado not singled, it's possible that this game simply would have sunk into a tear in the fabric of space-time, never to end. Prado made sure the universe remained intact. After Giancarlo Stanton drew an intentional walk to load the bases, Prado stepped up against T.J. McFarland and singled to end the game before any position players had to pitch. The hit extended Prado's hitting streak to six games and he's now slashing .273/.310/.341.

Chris Davis went 0-for-6 with four strikeouts in Saturday's 13-inning loss to the Marlins.

Giving six consecutive at-bats to Chris Davis is just asking for multiple strikeouts. Unfortunately for the Orioles, Davis didn't counteract the four strikeouts with any offensive pyrotechnics. The hit-less game dropped his season batting line to .210/.290/.427. He does have eight home runs and 21 driven in, but he doesn't offer much beyond the power.

Despite pitching seven innings of shutout baseball against the Marlins on Saturday, Mike Wright came away with a no-decision, as the Orioles lost 1-0 in 13 innings.

Making his second major league start in a row, Wright followed up a fantastic outing against the Angels with another strong showing versus the Marlins. He has not allowed a run in either of his starts thus far. Despite the brilliant pitching, Wright wouldn't factor into the decision, as the game would remain 0-0 until the 13th inning, when Martin Prado hit a walk-off RBI single. Wright struck out four, walked three and now has a 10/3 K/BB ratio in 14 1/3 innings. Plus, the lovely 0.00 ERA. The seventh-ranked prospect in the Orioles' system by MLB.com, Wright had posted a 2.64 ERA and 3-0 record in six starts for Triple-A Norfolk prior to his promotion. He's making it very difficult for the Orioles to take him out of the rotation.

Dan Haren didn't allow a run to cross the plate over six innings during Saturday's 13-inning, 1-0 win over the Orioles.

Haren might have kept the Orioles off the scoreboard, but he was far from efficient with his pitches and had already thrown 99 by the time he finished off the fifth inning, which prevented him from lasting longer. He worked his way around seven hits and three walks while striking out six. Haren didn't factor into the decision, as neither team scored until Martin Prado hit a single with the bases loaded in the bottom of the 13th inning. Across the stat sheet, Haren's posted quality numbers this season, as he holds a 3.09 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and 39/11 K/BB ratio over 55 1/3 innings. A road start against the Mets awaits the 34-year-old veteran.

Brian Matusz was ejected from Saturday's game for having a foreign substance on his right arm.

Milwaukee's Will Smith was suspended eight games for the same offense earlier this week and Matusz should expect a similar punishment. The up-and-down Matusz carries a losing record (1-2) and has almost as many walks (ten) as strikeouts (11) this season.
May 23 - 11:01 PM

Brandon Morrow (right shoulder inflammation) will throw another bullpen session on Sunday.

If the session goes well, Morrow will likely pitch in a simulated game on Wednesday or Thursday. Morrow was 2-0 with a 2.73 ERA before he got hurt. Odrisamer Despaigne will head back to the bullpen upon Morrow's return.
