Indians OF prospect Jerry Sands clubbed a home run Sunday in a win for Triple-A Columbus.

It was his fourth blast in the last seven games. He's plated seven runs over that span. 19 of Sands' 42 hits have gone for extra bases. Sands has played 10 games with the Indians this year, hitting .375 with six RBI in 24 at-bats. The 27-year-old could get another chance in Cleveland later this season.

Athletics acquired RHP Aaron Kurcz from the Braves for the 113th International Bonus Pool slot.

The 113th International Bonus Pool slot is worth $167,000. Kurcz was pitching to a 3.27 ERA, 1.51 WHIP and 38/21 K/BB ratio over 33 innings for Triple-A Gwinnett prior to the trade. He figures to serve as minor league depth for the A's.

Nationals RHP prospect Nick Pivetta took a perfect game into the seventh inning Sunday in a win for High-A Potomac.

Pivetta set down the first 19 Wilmington hitters in order before allowing an infield single to Jack Lopez. He finished with a season-high nine strikeouts. The right-hander has pitched at least six innings in each of his last four outings. Opponents have hit .211 against him since June 1.

Jed Lowrie (thumb) was seen fielding grounders during batting practice on Monday.

Lawrie underwent surgery to repair a torn ligament in his right thumb in late March. He's been progressing in his recovery and is swinging a fungo bat and fielding grounders, but he's still a few weeks out from returning.

Mets C prospect Brandon Brosher contributed a team-record seven RBI Sunday in a win for Low-A Brooklyn.

Brosher followed up a first-inning grand slam with a three-run double in the seventh. He had been just 3-for-22 in his previous nine games. A broken right leg limited Brosher to seven games last season. His grand slam was the first by a Brooklyn player since 2012.

Red Sox sent RHP Zeke Spruill outright to Triple-A Pawtuckett.

Spruill was put on waivers by the Red Sox on July 3. He's cleared them and has been sent outright to Triple-A Pawtuckett, where he'll return to a tough 5.40 ERA over 53 1/3 innings.

Red Sox optioned RHP Steven Wright to Triple-A Pawtucket.

Over the course of two stints with the Red Sox this season, Wright holds a 4.15 ERA, 1.24 WHIP and 24/13 K/BB ratio covering 43 1/3 innings (including four starts). The 30-year-old knuckleballer will return to Pawtucket until the Red Sox need an extra long arm in the pen.

According to ESPN's Buster Olney, the Giants are looking at Brewers outfielder Gerardo Parra and Braves outfielder Cameron Maybin as possible trade targets.

Parra is currently playing for one of the worst teams in baseball and is a logical trade candidate. He's been on fire of late, too, raising his season slash line to .308/.345/.477 thanks to a bevy of multi-hit games to start July. He's also swatted seven home runs and driven in 25. Olney notes that Giant outfielders--combined--have hit just 12 homers on the season.
