Steelers waived NT Al Lapuaho.

Lapuaho is a former undrafted free agent out of Utah State that spent most of last season on the Dolphins' practice squad. He loses his roster spot to veteran Brett Keisel, who was re-signed to a two-year contract.

Stephen Hill remains behind David Nelson for No. 2 outside wideout duties.

Hill's troublesome knees haven't been an issue in camp, but production has. He's played 70 snaps and run 37 routes through two preseason games, yet has just one catch for 17 yards. Hill is unlikely to be a factor behind Eric Decker and slot man Jeremy Kerley even if he can catch up to Nelson before Week 1.

New OC Joe Lombardi said Calvin Johnson will be moved around the formation a lot this season.

Perhaps losing Scott Linehan would be a concern for Calvin's stock if he wasn't gaining a creative Sean Payton disciple in Lombardi. Megatron will play inside, outside and go in motion in an effort to keep defensive attention off him. Still only 28 years old, he's a strong bet to go over 1,400 receiving yards for the fourth straight season.

Brandon Marshall will be flying to New York every Tuesday during the season to film Showtime's "Inside the NFL."

It's not ideal for Marshall to be spending his off day taking two flights weekly, but we trust that it won't be a problem. He's still in the prime for wideouts at age 30, hasn't missed a game since 2010 and keeps his body in peak condition. "He asked me about it. I trust him to make decisions that are in the best interests of the team first," said coach Marc Trestman. "I know Brandon. I know he'll do that."

Johnnie Troutman is leading the battle to be the Chargers starting right guard.

Last year's starter Jeromey Clary, remains on PUP as he comes off hip and shoulder surgeries. It appears the Chargers are leaning toward experience with Troutman over third-round rookie Chris Watt. Troutman started nine games last season, showing well as a run-blocker.

Coach Joe Philbin said he thinks Knowshon Moreno's conditioning is "getting there."

Still coming off his lingering right knee injury, Moreno isn't in tip-top shape yet. It's put him in a very poor position to mount a challenge to Lamar Miller for the starting gig. We're expecting Moreno to be a change-of-pace back and pass-protection specialist in Week 1.

Jerry Jones said Joe Randle is "really playing outstanding. That's not an exaggeration."

Through two preseason games, Randle has rushed 20 times for 91 yards (4.55 YPC). He's ahead of Ryan Williams in their battle to stick as the third running back behind DeMarco Murray and Lance Dunbar.

Adrian Peterson is not expected to play in Saturday's third preseason game.

"I really don't see the need," coach Mike Zimmer said. Peterson didn't get any preseason carries last year either before rumbling for 1,266 yards and 10 touchdowns in 14 games. He's the No. 3 overall player on our board.
