Angels manager Mike Scioscia said he expects Alex Meyer (shoulder) to return relatively quickly.

Meyer was placed on the disabled list late Monday night with shoulder inflammation, but an MRI taken Tuesday showed no serious damage. The right-hander has posted a 3.74 ERA, 1.34 WHIP, and 75/42 K/BB ratio over 67 1/3 innings this season out of the Angels' starting rotation.

Trea Turner (wrist) took grounders on Tuesday afternoon at Nationals Park.

That's a strong indication that Turner's checkup X-ray on Tuesday showed significant healing, though the star shortstop still hasn't been cleared to throw. He's been out for the last month with a fractured right wrist and there is no timetable yet for his return to Washington's active roster. The target for now is probably mid-August.

Scott Feldman (knee) has begun a throwing program in Cincinnati.

And manager Bryan Price told reporters on Tuesday afternoon that the right-hander could quickly progress to mound work. Feldman was placed on the disabled list July 18 with knee inflammation.

Jaycob Brugman is day-to-day with neck discomfort.

Brugman told reporters that he woke up with a stiff neck on Tuesday morning but will undergo treatment and doesn't expect to be sidelined long. The 25-year-old outfielder is batting .255/.341/.318 with two home runs and one stolen base through his first 35 major league games.
Jul 25 - 4:49 PM

Marlins recalled C/1B Tomas Telis from Triple-A New Orleans.

Telis could see some run at first base while Justin Bour recovers from an oblique strain, but the 26-year-old is a .230/.260/.278 career hitter in the major leagues and carries no fantasy relevance.
Jul 25 - 4:47 PM

Marlins placed 1B Justin Bour on the 10-day disabled list with a right oblique strain.

Bour suffered the injury in Monday night's series opener against the Rangers and will probably miss the next 3-4 weeks. The 29-year-old first baseman leaves behind a stellar .289/.366/.548 batting line with 21 home runs and 63 RBI in 87 games. Tomas Telis has been recalled from the minors in a corresponding roster move.
Jul 25 - 4:46 PM

Marlins purchased the contract of INF/OF Mike Aviles from Triple-A New Orleans.

Aviles will give the Marlins infield depth while shortstop J.T. Riddle recovers from a biceps injury. The veteran utilityman went hitless in seven plate appearances earlier this season with Miami.
Jul 25 - 4:43 PM

Marlins placed SS J.T. Riddle on the 10-day disabled list, retroactive to July 22, with biceps tendinitis.

Riddle has been sidelined for nearly a week with this upper-arm discomfort and the Marlins finally decided to quit playing a man short. The hope is Riddle will be ready for activation when first eligible in early August. Mike Aviles has been promoted from Triple-A New Orleans to give Miami infield depth.
