Pharoh Cooper will miss "a few weeks" with a shoulder injury.
Rams beat writer Alden Gonzalez believes Cooper will miss the opener, "at least." Cooper had won the Rams' third receiver job behind Tavon Austin and Kenny Britt. Los Angeles remains likely to be more of a two-tight end team.
Jeremy Hill rushed eight times for 21 yards and a touchdown in the Bengals' third preseason game Sunday night.
He added 28 yards on a screen pass. The average does not look great, but four of the attempts came as he tried to punch it into the end zone inside the five. He was successful on the fourth attempt, showing good speed to get the corner before diving for the pylon. Unlikely to play next week, Hill finishes the preseason with 53 yards and two touchdowns on 14 carries. He looks poised for a bounce back.
Giovani Bernard rushed three times for 27 yards and caught both of his targets for 25 yards and a touchdown in the Bengals' third preseason game.
While Jeremy Hill (8-21-1) was repeatedly stuffed at the line, Bernard impressed with his patience as a ball carrier and turned a tunnel screen at the edge of the red zone into a 19-yard touchdown. The beginning to the season sets up nicely for Gio, as the Bengals start at the Jets and Steelers before hosting the Broncos in Week 3. Those were three of the best run defenses in football last year. If Hill struggles, Bernard should get increased work.
Andy Dalton completed 6-of-10 passes for 77 yards and a touchdown in the third preseason game Sunday night.
Despite losing A.J. Green to a minor injury, Dalton was sharp. After a Jaguars fumble, Dalton found Gio Bernard for a 19-yard touchdown on a well-designed screen pass in the first quarter, and he led a massive, 16-play drive for a score on his final possession of the night. Unlikely to play next week, Dalton finishes the preseason 17-for-24 for 187 yards and one touchdown. He is a great pick in the 12th round.
Cedric Peerman exited the Bengals' third preseason game with a serious arm injury.
Peerman got his left arm caught underneath both himself and a defender as he went to the ground at the end of a second-quarter run. He immediately went to the sidelines in what looked like serious pain. He was fitted with an air cast on his forearm on the sidelines. It looks like he will be out a while.
Cardinals WR J.J. Nelson went catch-less on two targets in the team's third preseason game.
It was a quiet night for Nelson despite the fact that he ran with the ones with Larry Fitzgerald and John Brown in street clothes. Nelson has homerun-hitting ability, but he will enter the season no higher than No. 4 on the depth chart. Nelson may also be behind Cardinals "training camp MVP" Jaron Brown.
Andre Ellington rushed three times for 25 yards and caught 3-of-6 targets for 20 yards in the Cardinals' third preseason game.
Ellington has looked as healthy and quick as ever this August and is a name to keep in mind in case David or Chris Johnson goes down. Ellington is also an intriguing target in Dynasty leagues. He will hit free agency after this year.
Texans RB Alfred Blue rushed six times for 17 yards in Sunday's third preseason game.
They were Blue's first carries of the preseason after he was held out of the first two games. He was the No. 3 back into the rotation behind Lamar Miller and rookie Tyler Ervin. Final cuts should bring some clarity to Houston's backfield, but it looks like Ervin is ahead of Blue on the depth chart at present. Jonathan Grimes and Kenny Hilliard have also had nice moments in August.
