Panthers rookie WR Devin Funchess aggravated his hamstring injury in Monday's practice.
Funchess was able to finish the session, but he was spotted with the trainer after practice. Expected to serve as the "X" receiver with Kelvin Benjamin (ACL) done for the year, Funchess needs to get and stay healthy.
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport expects the Bills to cut a quarterback after naming Tyrod Taylor their starter.
Coach Rex Ryan has said the team would probably keep three quarterbacks, but he has been anything but forthcoming about his quarterbacks during the last month. E.J. Manuel seems like the obvious choice if Buffalo decides to release someone, but Matt Cassel's $4.75 million cap charge could earn him the boot. The Bills would get all of that $4.75 million off the cap by releasing Cassel.
Giants released LB Victor Butler.
His release will make room for S Stevie Brown. Bulter is suspended the first four games of the season.
Dolphins C Mike Pouncey said he will practice on Monday.
Pouncey was forced from the team's third preseason game with a knee injury, but the MRI came back negative. He will be good to go for Week 1.
Giants signed S Stevie Brown.
This was almost inevitable after Brown was released by the Texans last week. An eight-game starter with the Giants last season, Brown has a real chance to open the year opposite rookie Landon Collins in the secondary.
Titansonline's Jim Wyatt said he "can't see a scenario" where G Andy Levitre makes the team without being a starter.
Considering Levitre has all but lost his left guard job to Byron Bell, this means his days in Tennessee are likely done. The Titans can save $2.3 million by releasing Levitre, but they will have to eat $6.3 million in dead money.
The Titans' official website said WR Kendall Wright is rookie QB Marcus Mariota's favorite target.
Wright's chemistry with Mariota has shown this preseason. He has hauled in six passes for 84 yards in limited snaps. After a down season in 2013, Wright is a good bet to lead the Titans in targets this year. He is an underrated WR3 even in standard leagues.
Ravens waived or released WR DeAndre Carter, WR Aldrick Robinson, LS Patrick Scales, P Justin Manton, CB Tramain Jacobs, OG Leon Brown, OT Marcel Jones, and WR Trent Steelman.
Carter is the biggest name on the list. The UDFA out of Sacramento State was turning heads in the spring and caught five passes for 67 yards in the preseason. He's small (5'9/185), but put up some explosive numbers at his Pro Day.
