Wily Peralta allowed two runs in six innings, earning the win on Tuesday against the Giants.

Peralta shut the Giants out through six innings, but allowed the first two hitters he faced in the seventh inning to reach base on a walk and a double. Reliever Will Smith came in and allowed both inherited runners to score on out-producing balls in play. Peralta, overall, gave up five hits and two walks while striking out three. He has a solid 3.90 ERA with a 1.40 WHIP and a 38/16 K/BB ratio in 60 innings. He'll host the Cubs in his next start.

Matt Cain yielded four runs in six innings, taking the loss on Tuesday versus the Brewers.

The Brewers jumped on him for two runs in the first inning, then tacked on single runs in the third and fourth. Cain allowed eight hits overall, walked none, and struck out three. He's alternated good and bad starts since making his season debut on July 2, carrying a 4.50 ERA with a 1.32 WHIP and a 23/7 K/BB ratio in 28 innings. If the pattern holds, Cain is on track for good fortune in Atlanta against the Braves in his next start.

Gerardo Parra went 3-for-4 with a double, a triple, and three runs scored while extending his hitting streak to 11 games in Tuesday's win against the Giants.

Parra led off the game with a double and came around to score in a two-run opening frame. He led off the third with a single and scored, then tripled and scored in the seventh. Parra is having a career year, batting .324/.365/.517 with nine home runs, 31 RBI, 52 runs scored, and seven stolen bases. He could be wearing a new uniform in the next two days as the trade deadline approaches.

Martin Perez completely fell off the rails in the second inning Tuesday, serving up eight runs without recording an out in a loss to the Yankees.

Perez cruised through the first inning, allowing a baserunner due to catcher's interference but otherwise getting through it unscathed. That was not the case in the second, when he gave up seven hits -- including three doubles -- and a HBP before being removed. Two more inherited runs scored after Perez left the game. Perez carried a 4.91 ERA into the contest, but he left with a 10.50 ERA and 2.33 WHIP through three starts. An interleague matchup with the Giants is in store on Sunday.
Jul 29 - 12:50 AM

Chris Capuano wasn't long for Tuesday's game, allowing five runs over 2/3 of an inning against the Rangers before exiting.

Amazingly, Capuano escaped with a no-decision in the game, as the Yankees were able to do even more damage against Rangers starter Martin Perez. The start was just Capuano's fourth of the year and his first since May 29. The Yankees certainly don't want another outing like Tuesday's, so the club may look to acquire another starter ahead of Friday's trade deadline. Capuano now owns a 6.97 ERA and 1.77 WHIP on the year.

Jose Altuve finished 3-for-5 with five RBI and a run scored in the Astros' 10-5 win over the Angels on Tuesday.

Altuve drove in runs in three different innings, proving to be in the right place at the right time on several occasions. He had an RBI single in the second, a two-run single in the fourth and a two-run double in the sixth. The five-RBI game was his first in 606 career games. The second baseman is batting .305/.349/.432 with nine homers, 48 RBI, 54 runs scored and 28 steals overall.
Jul 29 - 12:48 AM

Conor Gillaspie went 2-for-5 with two RBI and a run scored in a loss to the Astros on Tuesday.

Gillaspie had an RBI double in the first inning before adding an RBI single an inning later. He's enjoyed his new digs through three games, going 5-for-12 with two doubles, three RBI and three runs scored as a member of the Angels. Gillaspie is hitting .249/.288/.378 on the year after being designated for assignment by the White Sox earlier in July.
Jul 29 - 12:42 AM

Howie Kendrick went 2-for-4 in Tuesday's 2-0 loss to the Athletics.

Sonny Gray tossed a three-hit shutout, and Kendrick was responsible for two of those three hits. The second baseman entered the game 3-for-26 in his previous six games, losing nearly 30 points of OPS. He owns a .285/.333/.397 triple-slash line with seven home runs, 40 RBI, and 45 runs scored.
