Everth Cabrera (knee) went 1-for-4 with a run scored in the Padres' win over the Rockies on Wednesday.

Cabrera was a late scratch from Tuesday's game with a sore right knee. It was never a major concern. The speedy shortstop is batting .333 with two stolen bases.

Lorenzo Cain left Wednesday night's game against the Astros with a Grade 1 groin strain.

That's the least severe type of strain, but Cain could still be looking at an extended absence. The 28-year-old outfielder was off to a decent start this season, boasting a .333 batting average and two steals in 12 games. Jarrod Dyson figures to get a boost in playing time and may be worth an add in fantasy leagues for his speed.

Curtis Granderson returned to action on Wednesday April 16.

Apr 17 - 5:17 AM

Chris Iannetta belted a walk-off 12th inning solo homer to propel the Angels to a 5-4 victory over the A's.

Iannetta's shot to dead center off Drew Pomeranz was nearly pulled back into the yard by Craig Gentry, but the ball grazed off the top of his glove at the apex of his leap. Iannetta finished 2-for-5 with two runs scored. Hits have been hard to come by, but Ianetta's offensive value has been salvaged some by six walks and five extra-base hits (against two singles). He's slashing .184/.304/.421 through 38 at-bats.

Luke Gregerson blew his second save of the season by coughing up a ninth inning run Wednesday in a loss to the Angels.

Nursing a 4-3 lead, Gregerson was brought on to finish things out against the top of Los Angeles' lineup. He didn't have trouble with J.B. Shuck, but consecutive singles put Mike Trout on third and Albert Pujols on first. Howie Kendrick's fielder's choice tied the game before Gregerson was able to escape. Gregerson and Sean Doolittle, the committee appointed to replace Jim Johnson, have both blown saves in the past few days, and Johnson is pitching well again, so one wonders if Bob Melvin is going to get the $10 million man back into the ninth inning the next time Oakland has a save opportunity. It isn't like Gregerson has been bad or anything. He owns a 1.86 ERA and 0.83 WHIP and hadn't given up a run since April 2 prior to this evening.

Tyler Skaggs coughed up four runs on seven hits over six innings in a no-decision against the A's on Wednesday.

The young southpaw struck out two and walked three. He wasn't awful, but he made one unforgivable mistake on a 2-1 pitch to Brandon Moss with two men on and two outs in the fourth inning. That ball was blasted over the right field fence, and Oakland had a 4-1 lead it wouldn't have relinquished if Luke Gregerson had done his job. Skaggs (3.43 ERA) will return to a familiar NL environment when he travels to Washington next week.
Apr 17 - 2:37 AM

Tommy Milone surrendered three runs -- two earned -- over six innings in Wednesday's no-decision versus the Angels.

Milone isn't going to blow anybody away, so there are going to be starts like tonight that could go one way or the other based on a whole bevy of circumstances. This evening, walking a pair and striking out only one didn't come back to bite him in a big way because he mostly avoided hard contact (six hits; four singles and two doubles). Milone has coughed up 16 hits over his first two starts, a frequency which must come down ASAP with the Rangers coming to town on Tuesday.

Jackie Bradley Jr. delivered a two-run double off Leury Garcia in the top of the 14th to lead the Red Sox to a 6-4 win over the White Sox on Wednesday.

The floundering Red Sox caught quite a break when the White Sox ran out of pitchers, forcing them to turn to an infield. After two two-out walks from Garcia, Bradley delivered the big hit, just Boston's third after the first inning of the contest. He finished the game 1-for-6 with a walk.
