Freddie Freeman conceded Tuesday that his left wrist is at "probably about 80-85 percent" strength.

Freeman has batted .309/.377/.527 since returning from the disabled list on July 4, but the 27-year-old first baseman is flashing less power than he did before fracturing the wrist in May. "It is obviously not 100 percent, but it’s good enough in my eyes," Freeman said Tuesday afternoon. "I talked to Dr. (Gary) Lourie the other day and he says it’s going to be a whole offseason (before it’s back to normal). I have lost a lot of strength. I’ve hit some balls that I thought were home runs and they’re not going."

Carlos Correa (thumb) took on-field batting practice on Tuesday.

Correa could soon be cleared for a rehab assignment and he told reporters before Tuesday's workout that he will probably need 20-30 minor league at-bats before returning to the Astros' active roster. The star shortstop remains on track for activation in early September. He's been out since mid-July with a torn ligament in his left thumb.

Dodgers recalled RHP Josh Ravin from Triple-A Oklahoma City.

Ravin will join the Los Angeles bullpen ahead of Tuesday night's game against the Pirates. He has a 3.38 ERA in 5 1/3 innings of relief this season with the Dodgers.

Dodgers placed 1B Cody Bellinger on the 10-day disabled list, retroactive to August 20, with a sprained right ankle.

Bellinger suffered the ankle injury on Saturday in Detroit and the first-place Dodgers have wisely decided to give the 22-year-old rising star an extended breather. Bellinger, the heavy favorite for NL Rookie of the Year, is sitting on a .968 OPS and 34 home runs through his first 101 major league games. He should be ready for activation when first eligible at the end of August.

Rangers recalled INF/OF Phil Gosselin from Triple-A Round Rock.

Gosselin will give Texas some position-player depth while Joey Gallo recovers from a nasal fracture and concussion. Gosselin, 28, is a .271/.320/.367 career hitter at the major league level.
Aug 22 - 6:40 PM

Rangers placed INF/OF Joey Gallo on the 7-day concussion disabled list.

Gallo suffered a concussion and a nasal fracture when he collided with teammate Matt Bush on Sunday afternoon. It sounds like the Rangers believe he will be ready for activation when first eligible on August 29. Phil Gosselin has been recalled from Triple-A Round Rock in a corresponding roster move.

White Sox manager Rick Renteria hinted Tuesday that Matt Davidson (wrist) won't be back before September 1.

Davidson has been cleared to begin a minor league rehab assignment, but the out-of-contention White Sox will bring him along slowly. He was placed on the disabled list August 8, retroactive to August 4, after suffering a deep right wrist contusion on a hit-by-pitch.

Cardinals manager Mike Matheny indicated Tuesday that Mike Leake could be skipped on his next turn through the rotation.

The right-hander is lined up to start Saturday against the Rays, but Matheny told reporters on Tuesday evening that other options are being considered. Leake has surrendered 22 runs -- 21 earned -- on 36 hits over his last four starts covering 18 1/3 innings. Fast-rising pitching prospect Jack Flaherty, currently stationed at Triple-A Memphis, would be on regular rest for Saturday's game versus Tampa Bay.
