Cardinals waived/injured QB Jake Coker.
Coker wasn't putting any heat on Matt Barkley for third-string duties, and was recently diagnosed with a knee injury that will likely require a scope. The Alabama alum will spend his rookie year in the Cardinals' I.R. list.
Browns acquired P Kasey Redfern in the Andy Lee trade.
Redfern is likely to now be the Browns' punter this season.
Chargers placed C/G Chris Watt (knee) on reserve/PUP.
Consistently injury plagued since entering the league as a 2014 third-round pick out of Notre Dame, Watt was slow to recover from an offseason knee scope, and missed all of camp. Matt Slauson is the Chargers' new starting center.
Chargers claimed RB Gus Johnson off waivers from the Falcons.
A second-year UDFA, Johnson couldn't beat out Brandon Wilds and Terron Ward in Atlanta. He's backfield insurance after Branden Oliver's Achilles' tear.
Panthers acquired P Andy Lee and a seventh-round draft pick from the Browns in exchange for P Kasey Redfern and a fourth-round pick in 2018.
The Panthers needed a punter, and the rebuilding Browns have been stocking up on draft picks since Sashi Brown and Paul DePodesta took over. Lee, 34, was acquired via trade by the old Ray Farmer regime for a 2017 seventh-round pick. The Brown-DePodesta regime gets a draft-pick upgrade and will move forward with a cheaper punter. Lee is owed a $2.83 million base salary this season.
Kendall Wright re-strained his hamstring at Monday's practice.
He's ruled out for Thursday's preseason finale. Wright has missed almost all of Titans camp with hamstring woes, and could fall to fourth or even fifth on the wide receiver depth chart to begin the year. The Titans are likely going to keep Andre Johnson and Harry Douglas behind Rishard Matthews and Tajae Sharpe. Tre McBride has also made a case for a roster spot this August.
Texans RT Derek Newton (hamstring) is expected to be ready for Week 1.
He'll resume practicing this week. It's a sliver of good news for a line that has been hit hard by preseason injuries, losing C Nick Martin (ankle) to I.R. and LT Duane Brown (quad) potentially to reserve/PUP to open the year.
Texans placed C Nick Martin (ankle surgery) on injured reserve.
Martin could eventually become the Texans' I.R./recall player -- teams don't have to designate that player beforehand, anymore -- but he's more likely to miss his entire rookie season. Greg Mancz is the Texans' new starting center.
