Fernando Rodney blew his fifth save of the season Saturday in the Rays' loss to the Yankees.

Rodney entered the game with Tampa Bay leading by two. He got Ichiro Suzuki to fly out and fanned Jayson Nix, but Lyle Overbay drew a walk, Brennan Boesch doubled and Brett Gardner singled. That all netted the Bombers two runs and they broke through to win it in the 11th. Rodney is a mess right now. Joel Peralta needs to be owned in all standard fantasy leagues.

Mariano Rivera earned his 18th save of the season in the Yankees' win over the Rays on Saturday.

Rivera has been nearly perfect this year, boasting a 1.40 ERA, 0.83 WHIP and 16/2 K/BB ratio in 19 1/3 innings. The veteran righty is 18-for-18 in save opportunities.
May 25 - 8:23 PM

Vidal Nuno held the Rays to two earned runs in six frames Saturday as the Yankees won in extra innings.

Nuno was again solid, yielding only five hits and one walk in what was his second career major league start. He's been steady in spot duty this year for the Yankees but seems due for a blowup. We probably wouldn't trust him outside of AL-only fantasy leagues.
May 25 - 8:20 PM

Matt Moore took a no-decision despite allowing only one run in six innings Saturday against the Yankees.

The Rays lost in extra innings after closer Fernando Rodney blew yet another save in the ninth. Moore did his part, limiting the Yankees to five hits and two walks. The 23-year-old left-hander is 8-0 with a 2.21 ERA, 1.10 WHIP and 56/28 K/BB ratio in 61 innings this season. He should keep rolling next week against the Marlins.
May 25 - 8:17 PM

John Gast left in the second inning of his start Saturday against the Dodgers due to left shoulder tightness.

Gast's velocity was down from the first pitch, so it's not surprising to find out that he was dealing with an injury. If he has to make a trip to the disabled list, reliever Joe Kelly or last year's first-round pick Michael Wacha could be options to replace him in the rotation.
May 25 - 8:03 PM

Angel Pagan hit a walkoff two-run inside-the-park homer in the 10th inning Saturday as the Giants marched back to defeat the Rockies by a score of 6-5.

The Giants trailed at two different points in the game but kept plugging away and finally broke through when Pagan launched a towering shot to "Triples Alley" at AT&T Park with one out in the bottom of the 10th. The ball bounced high off the wall and into center field, allowing Pagan to travel all the way around the diamond. It was a wild finish.
May 25 - 8:00 PM

John Gast left Saturday's game against the Dodgers in the second inning due to an undisclosed injury.

The left-hander wasn't right from the outset, as his fastball was sitting 82-84 miles per hour with no command in the first inning. He was replaced by reliever Joe Kelly, who may take the open spot in the rotation should the injury force Gast to miss a start.
May 25 - 7:57 PM

Rafael Betancourt blew a save in the bottom of the 10th inning Saturday as the Rockies fell to the Giants.

Betancourt issued a walk to Brandon Crawford and then a walkoff two-run inside-the-park homer to Angel Pagan. The veteran Rockies closer has been dealing with groin problems lately but an examination earlier this week by team doctors ruled out anything serious. He will probably be reevaluated for that groin issue on Sunday morning.
